It's probably because you haven't found the right enclosure for it. It's pretty understandable. 12 years ago, I thought the same thing. After much experience with enclosure designs, I now know otherwise. DD makes one of the best subs...if used properly. Not too long ago, I designed and built a ported enclosure with 2 9515's in a ported enclosure what got a perfect score on the IASCA Finals and the same person won in 2 categories for SQ. Their prices are higher, but there profit margin is less than any other company in the industry. You get what you pay for.
Wow you're right most of those top scores in 2009 were with DD subs.
This is true, but the bigger motor allows for a sort of "wow factor".
I'd say most of the top scores in SPL from 04-09 has been DD...if not more. And recently, DC has been producing some huge numbers also.
what dc level subs were being used and with what power? I think that since DC is fairly new and it's getting a lot of attention because its a good thing. Just like when DD came out with all of their good subs and got a lot of attention.
IA warden would be better suited in this argument. Some guy has 4 15" wardens on 30k, so like 7.5k a piece //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif plus the mag looks ridiculous haha.
i think dp are close in $ to the level 5 and maybe the level 5 will beat it. Warden series would for sure be out of my price range for a single sub set up. i could very easily get 2 xl for the price of a warden. And ppl say DD is over priced?
