Dd9512 and orion2500d questions.

Okay so I got my system hooked up, it is a dd9512 d4 in a box tuned at 33hz and it is hooked up to an Orion 2500d, my question is why does it sound like plain crap? It has okay lows but other than that the higher bass isn't noticeable. If anyone know the song "thumb through that check" by rocko the real lower bass is all you can really hear. I don't know how to set my amp, I know I can turn the gain up more, but I don't know how much excursion this sub can handle and I really would like not to blow my sub! Please help anyone.

i have 2 orion 600ds strapped so its the same as you if your running at 2 ohms your seeing about the same as me. i play that song all the time and all i hear is low bass it sounds good there is no "high" bass especially in that song.. learn how to set your amp up. simple as that

I can't figure out that amp lol, but I know that song is a bad example. I just was hoping someone could give me hints on tuning the amp.

intellQ is bass boost. i'd turn it off . set your gain right and then if you want more bass increase volume. with that amp you should have no problem getting loud even though your not using it s full potential because your running it at 2 ohms not 1

Well I'm going to play with my system a little. The good thing about the amp is that it is been clamped at 2700@1 so when I get another 9512 d4 I can run it at 1 because each sub is rated at 1500wrms. Apparently it is louder than I thought because I went and tuned it at a school and from about 400 yards or more I set of the alarm so the cops told me to go home. Too bad you don't live in ga, I would pay you to tune it lol. Thank for all your help though. Anymore suggestions an I am all ears.

LPF should be set around 60, SSF should be around 28 or so initially, especially if your woofer is brand new. Gain is really going to very with your radio's pre-out voltage. Do you know your pre-out voltage? (rca voltage?)

As far as excursion, that sub will move quite a bit.

Leave bass boost or any special EQ thing completely off.

It is 4v, the Kenwood X796, and the sub isn't brand new, just new to me lol I have NEVER seen a sub move this much so I got scared and turned it back down. I know that my kickers would pop when they were too much, I dont know how this one will act, but I get nervous with it since it is my best system ever as of yet.

Just take it easy. You shouldn't have to turn the gain up over half, depending on how far up in volume you go up on the head unit. Somewhere between 1/3-1/2 may be where you want to be with the gain, just you will have to learn your system.

Maybe that's my problem, on my hu I turn all of my highs up to 8, mids at 4, and bass to -8, and the hu only goes to 25 because the highs start sounding muffle while the lows you can't hear like I want.

You need to get an amp for your highs. Having the bass at -8 will take away a lot of the voltage in the RCA's meaning you have to crank your gain up. Does your radio have a HPF (high pass filter)?

Yes it does, and I have NEVER had an amp for highs lol, I am a bass guy, but I see what your saying. I think my misconception came from how the different settings change the sounds. I always though lt increasing a Setting increased the sound, not HOW it sounds. And yes I am listening to all the advice, it jus keeps adding more questions lol.

You should set your HPF on your radio to 100-125 hz no amplified and turn your bass back up to 0. That HPF will keep the bass out of the door speakers which will keep them from distorting/possibly blowing at higher volumes.
