Damaged Type R

that's def not an issue with excursion that's where something impacted the surround during play, be careful doing that it can cause the VC to rub in the gap and short out after the epoxy coating is damaged.

do you think in time this sub will just blow up i have these hooked up to a audioque 1200d

I really don't know how long they will last when I once had a scraped coil it lasted minutes before it blew out(melted) where the scrape was, yours may not have scraped but holding down one side while it's playing will do it, so if anything pull them out and look at the coils through the vent with a flashlight just have someone hold the light while you raise the cone evenly from underneath and look around the coil if it scraped you will see it.

Ok thanks

I've seen quite a few type r's including 1 I used to have with similiar damage at the ribs. I have no idea what causes it.
Same here. The first pair I dealt with both had it, but I figured it was just because the previous owner had them banging against the hatch. I worked on a friend's enclsoure with his R in it, it also had these. I don't know what the deal is.

something like that i guess im still trying to figure out how the hell this happen might have been case of water or cases of pop who knows just *****
yeah I'd be mad too, as long as they are mechanically fine I'd say thats what counts . . . still ***** though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If there still playing at full tilt like normal your probably good man I wouldn't stress it to hard it's cosmetic as long as they still read with the dmm and the spots are not all the way through now you know to tell your wife what I tell mine, unless your installing new subs as a present you better not be setting anything else in my trunk! just as it would be in divorce she get's 2/3 the engine and the cab! THE TRUNK IS MINE!

My buddies 12s have been taking the abuse from a Nine.1 for years and they never did that. If the damage doesn't go all the way through the surround, you'll be fine. If it does, pick up some e6000 or rubberized super glue and dap it from both sides. As far as sub recommendations, you'll want something with similar power handling unless you upgrade the amp. Look into the SA series instead of the SD. There are also TONS of other companies making a strong line in that power range including incriminator audio, obsidian audio, SSA, and many more.
