Current system way too loud, help me downsize

i have a VERY nice, nearly brand new JL 500/1 that i would trade you for your 1000/1.. PM me

what jl comps do you have?

if you want to reduce the footprint of the sub (and it's amp), yet still have something that sounds good and gets reasonably loud if necessary, i have a 12w3v3 running off the sub channel of a pdx-5 and it seems to work pretty well (c5-650's active off the other channels)... sealed box in a mazda3 hatch... blends real nicely... a 10 would work basically just as well...

the pdx is a nice package... it's tiny, it doesn't cook itself, it's efficient... plus every one of them seems to have come off the assembly line at least 25% over rated output, judging by birthsheet numbers...

I have the Evolution C5 650 comps also. Yes tiny is what I am looking for and a space saver in my trunk as my current setup i have no space left. I want basically a 10" sub to work good in a small sealed box with a small amp to push the comps up front and still have plenty of power to push the sub. I am still not sure if i want rear fills, so not sure if the apline pdx 5 will work with only pushing 300watts to the sub and if I dont use rear fills i will have un-used channels.

What would be a good small sealed box for this sub. I noticed it also handles 1000 watts rms, which is what my jl 1000/1 amp does, will the amp I have work with the ssa 10" sub? Then maybe i will just keep my jl 300/2 for my comps up front

either keep the sub and turn the gain down or get a smaller amp, OR buy a 10" or 12" Idqv3.
x2

that way if you ever feel like showin off or somethin...you have the headroom there. Or you may change your taste in how loud you like your music. Unless you really want the money back from downgrading (which you'll waste a good 40 bucks just on shipping).

Personally I'd rather have something with the ability to get way louder than I currently am happy with than end up wanting more and not having it

well, you have to make up your mind here, do you want to keep the 2 amps or not?

if you are going to go to one amp, then yea, the single amp sure won't push a w7, but there are any number of subs out there that will be more than happy with 300 watts and sound real good in a small sealed box (and make a "reasonable" amount of noise if necessary)... since you've already established you aren't interested in being heard from miles away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif , i'm sure you could find something you'd be happy with... as for the "unused" channels on a pdx-5, if they make you feel THAT bad, just bridge it... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

if you are going to keep the two, i'd do what a couple other people have suggested, and just be gentle on the existing sub... i suppose if you wanted to, you could sell the 1000/1 and the sub and go with the 10w3v3 and 250/1 combination someone else mentioned earlier (or any other number of combinations of sub/amp)... that would make for a smaller package, anyway...

are you trying to make some money off what you have?

you could just not turn the volume up?

that would alleviate all your issues //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Gains down, problem solved.

Or trade the 1000/1 for a 500/1 and your set.

ED makes a 5 channel that is liek 350 if its still on sale, you could run your fronts active and have 600+ for your sub at 1 ohm.

Right now I have my system up for sale which consists of jl 12w7, jl 1000/1, jl 300/2.This is just way to loud for my taste and I never turn it up.

Can you guys please suggest a nice 10" sub setup to me with box.

Right now I have a alpine 9887 and jl comps in the front no rear fill.

Should I fill the rear and get a alpine pdx 5 channel? But what rear fills and what 10" should I go with. I am looking for a good space saver in the trunk
I thought I never see a post like this....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. But my two cents might sound corny, but why not just turn down the subwoofer level on your deck or it is still too loud? You got some good ish man, but if its that bad for you do what you have to.

Does Kenny Pollock ring a bell?

Will I really wanted to just have one amp instead of two. what about any of these 10" Subs?Jl 10w7

SSa icon 10"

Alpine type r
Any of those would be a good choice. JL makes some nice subs regardless of your thoughts on the actual value, ssa icon has gotten some very good reviews and alpine type r has been a forum boner for god knows how long. Although out of all of those I would pick the SSA, for purely personal reasons.
