Im dont really know much about these but my old hifonics 6 channel amp, its a zed amp... has a crossover with it. Ill be using this amp for my door speakers. I have an amp for my sub also.

What is the point of the crossover and do i need to use it??

Yes you'll need to use one. A crossover keeps unwanted freqs away from a speaker.

Subs can't play 10kHz, well they can but it's not good, and a tweeter can't play 40Hz. If a tweet plays 40Hz it will mean certain death to the tweet. A mid range speaker can't play as low as 40Hz nor can it play as high as 10kHz, so it needs to stay between that say, 80Hz -3kHz.

Subs are intended to play ~100Hz and down

Mids are intended to play between ~80Hz - 4kHz

Tweets are intended to pay ~2.5kHz and up

So to keep them playing their intended freqs, you'll need to cross them over, or filter out those freqs that are harmful to that certain speaker.
