Crossover Slopes

Hey guys and Girls

I have a question about Crossover slopes. Lets say if I run patch cables from my head unit to a crossover. The slope for the low pass (sub) channel is 12dbs/octive and run into my amp that has a crossover that is also a 12db slopedo the 2 add giving me a total of 24 db/octive slope?

The reason I ask this is I have a coustic XM6. It has a 36 db slope on the sub channel. If I run the cross over on the amp at the same 80hz, would this make the slope to steep and make it hard to blend with the front stage?
