crossover on pioneer 880prs

how does the crossover on the 880 compare to this one? (clarion mcd360)

http://www.cardomain.com/item/CLAMCD360?utm_source=shopzilla.com&utm_medium=product_feed

i have both the 880 and the clarion crossover, i know someone else that had the same emnience mids/highs that i do (8 mids/8 tweets) and he used this crossover. Robin told me that i wouldnt need it, that i could use the 3 way crossover in the 880....can u set the crossover points on the 880 the same as the clarion i have? im not good with crossovers so............................lol

880- High-Pass Crossover (HPF) 50/63/80/100/ 125/160/200Hz, 0/-6/-12dB/Oct. Subwoofer Crossover (LPF) 50/63/80/100/ 125/160/200Hz, -6/-12/-18dB/Oct.
You realize those are the crossover frequencies for STD (standard mode) right???

idk what that means lol
In STD mode your 3 preouts are FRONT, REAR, SUB

In NW mode your 3 preouts are HIGH, MID, LOW.

In NW mode you have a much better selection of crossover points.

NOTE: NW mode is for running an active system.

It looks to me that the crossover on the 880 is more flexible. The Clarion doesn't have a band pass for the mid (or rear) channels. The 880 does have this. If you're running a TRUE active system then you need to be able to bandpass the mids. Not only does it have a better crossover, keep in mind the more components you have in a system the more chance for noise and/or engine whine is possible.

i have no midbass. i have-
8 eminence alpha 6a midrange (85-6,000 Hz)

8 eminence apt80 tweeters (3,500-20,000 Hz)

and the 4 15" mts

as you can tell, this is by far not a SQ system. lol

Actually, you have midbass....just not a dedicated midbass driver. Your mid is pulling double duty which is not a bad thing. I guess I don't know what you're really asking. The difference between the Clarion and the 880 PRS in STD mode aren't much. NW mode is where the 880 will go above and beyond the Clarion.

I am running mine in standard mode. If I change it to network mode, would it be logical. My system is: 4 channel amp for front and rear; 2 channel amp for sub. Also, what is a active system??

Thanks

Joe

What type of speakers are you using up front?

Active is where each speaker has it's own channel of amplification, and you use the HU to select your crossover frequencies, instead of having the passive crossover commonly found in component sets.

Active offers more flexibility and fine tuning, but at the same time that fine tuning can occasionally be a pain when you're trying to get the sound just right.

If you want to just install it and forget about it, leave it in STD mode, if you want to tinker like crazy, throw it in Networking mode, and go to town.

I love mine, don't know what I'd do w/o it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
