i just put my new alpine type-s (i know not the best, but for $75 on ebay i couldn't resist) component set in, and i thought i'd just velcro the crossover to the inside of the door, well i get done and go to roll down my window and on the left side it stops my window from rolling down about 3/4th of the way down , and on the right side it completely knocks it off, does anyone suggest somwhere else i could mount the crossovers? i would like to keep it in the door somewhere so i dont have to run any more wires through the little door gromet thing i just wanted to see if anyone had anny suggestions before i rip apart my car again . the car is a 2003 ford taurus. thanks

To get the crossovers on my front components to clear the window mechanism I had to attach them to the outer door skin (from the inside of the door). When I tried to go on the inside I ran into exactly the same problem you're describing.

Perhaps if you take the circuit boards out of their cases you could gain a little extra clearance. Might also be a good idea to cover them in plastic on 3 sides to keep moisture away.

That sounds like your best bet, as long as you get it very secure from all the door slamming and waterproof it. I actually put the crossover inside the pocket on the doorpanel where most people store their garage opener/lotion(females)/papers/etc, but I'm not sure if you have pockets there or not.

My crossovers are mounted between the Trim panel and the door. I mounted it on some 1/4 inch MDF and the n used the MDF to healp seal a hole on the door. No moving parts in that area...

put them under the armrest on the door panel (the part that you remove off the door) or any crevice in the panel that it will fit in. if you mount them in the door you want them on the DRY side. if you put them in the inside of the door, the WILL get wet, and eventually corrode and die.

or you could just bite the bullet and run a couple wires into the door and mount the xovers in the trunk by your amp. unless you have a G35 or some other car that's a royal pita to run wires into the door, it won't really take you all that long and be better in the long run.

My Memphis have huge crossovers that wouldn't fit anywhere in the doors, and they have the nice overdrive lights on them, so I mounted them in the door pockets as far forward as they will go. They look nice and I can see the overdrive light if it ever pops on.

i think im gonna go with mounting them in the pocket on the bottom of the doors, i dont really use them, so i guess that'd be a good place, if i dont do that then i'll run them in the trunk, it took me almost 2 hours to run the speaker wire through, because the rubber surround curves down, to the left, and back up again, it was suuchh a pain in the ***. But i'll play around with it. Thanks alot for the suggestions.
