Crossover Gaps?

I was told by a co-worker of mine, while talking about choosing AMPs for my Subs and Coaxials to make sure they work well together for crossover reasons? He did a horrible job explaining, using the term "crossover gaps" repeatedly and I harshly criticized him for is unexplainable advice...but I couldn't help to wonder if he had some idea what he was about... This sound relative at all?
