At least my crazy ideas *will* work.

But check out this crazy idea from a forum regular.

My response is politically correct, but it's a retarded idea.

ok this is what im leaning towards, although i have no idea where im supposed to get money for it but at some point in the future something like this may end up getting built.

this would be absolute high end IMO:

25 mm Scan Speak ring radiator supertweeter

7 khz

38 mm Scan Speak dome mid-tweeter

4 khz

3” ATC dome upper midrange

2.2 khz

6” Beyma Neodymium mid-midrange

800 hz

10” JBL Pro lower-midrange

200 hz

18” JBL SFG bass

120 hz

-------------------------

// on the rear side of the speaker, because no room is left on the front

Two 18” Beyma CP1000 series drivers, low-bass

60 hz

Subwoofer ( depending on size of room, love for bass and SAF this can vary )

-------------------------------

note1: accuton tweeter not used due to low efficiency combined with mediocre power handling. raven or equivalent not used due to poor vertical dispersion

note2: you may question the need for such an extravagant arrangement but i have good reasons to believe that this is the approach that will result in least distortion, compression, smoothest response and dispersion ... in other words the approach that will provide most satisfying sound.

i understood what he wanted to do, but i dont know why.. nor how he plans to amplifiy that behemoth.

this is what i think will happen, 18 bumps, cones from the smaller woofers will have physical intererance, and make wierd sounds.. if he's planning to make this behemoth as one unit coaxle, lik ethe 3-4 way's on the market now.

Are you retarded?

A 7-way speaker? It would work but why WOULDN'T you want to get the most out of each driver?
It's always better to minimize the splitting of frequencies. We can live with

headphones as they offer great SQ {one driver}, but they lack bass.

Some people love full range single drivers and use horn loading to get

extra bass.

We can tolerate 2 way and 3 way systems plus subwoofer.

Listening to an integration of tweeters midwoofers and subs is tolerable,

even tweeters, midrange, woofers and subs is cool {my favorite}.

I don't think a 7 way is required when there is product on the market

to give you great sound with just a 2 or 3 way design {plus sub}. Making it more

complex just invites the gremlins to manifest.

I can think of one woofer than can replace his idea of using;

* 6” Beyma Neodymium mid-midrange

* 10” JBL Pro lower-midrange

* 18” JBL SFG bass

I have ten of these woofers for that reason alone, it can do more stuff

than a normal woofer can't, it's a special design.

I don't see a reason to split the tweeter into two parts either. There is product

on the market that allows tweeters to operate clean down to 2khz easy,

some do closer to 1khz.

This leaves us with the last item -> 3” ATC dome upper midrange

This is a unique driver, it's realistically only good to high pass it in the

700hz range. It will blend nice with any tweeter even ones that don't

require a low crossover point. But the next question remains, which

woofer or midwoofer will integrate between the sub and 700hz ?

ATC uses their ATC woofer and I can think of just a few more.

So.. a good tweeter, ATC, woofer plus sub would be a nice rig... 4 way,

no need for 7 way.
