It's always better to minimize the splitting of frequencies. We can live with headphones as they offer great SQ {one driver}, but they lack bass. Some people love full range single drivers and use horn loading to get extra bass. We can tolerate 2 way and 3 way systems plus subwoofer. Listening to an integration of tweeters midwoofers and subs is tolerable, even tweeters, midrange, woofers and subs is cool {my favorite}. I don't think a 7 way is required when there is product on the market to give you great sound with just a 2 or 3 way design {plus sub}. Making it more complex just invites the gremlins to manifest. I can think of one woofer than can replace his idea of using; * 6” Beyma Neodymium mid-midrange * 10” JBL Pro lower-midrange * 18” JBL SFG bass I have ten of these woofers for that reason alone, it can do more stuff than a normal woofer can't, it's a special design. I don't see a reason to split the tweeter into two parts either. There is product on the market that allows tweeters to operate clean down to 2khz easy, some do closer to 1khz. This leaves us with the last item -> 3” ATC dome upper midrange This is a unique driver, it's realistically only good to high pass it in the 700hz range. It will blend nice with any tweeter even ones that don't require a low crossover point. But the next question remains, which woofer or midwoofer will integrate between the sub and 700hz ? ATC uses their ATC woofer and I can think of just a few more. So.. a good tweeter, ATC, woofer plus sub would be a nice rig... 4 way, no need for 7 way.
