car was impounded? read why!!

umm you found it easy enoguht o change the dashboard but it is hard to drill out a rivet?
that makes no sense at all. you had BOTh dashs out so it cannot be that hard to get at, and i am sure you or a friend or someone you know owns a drill.

He makes up shit all the time. Dont let this fool ahh fool ya. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have 2 beretta's both are identical. Since the recently purchased is in better physical condition i swapped dashboards with the one i've been having.
Like others that have made mention of this I am having a difficult time with the fact that you had the ability and whatnot to remove 2 dashboards and replace one but you couldn't manage to drill out two pop-rivets (as that is all that holds the VIN plate onto the dash location where they go in a Beretta?!?)
Well i got pulled over for running a red light which is complete BS since here in louisiana you can legally take a right-turn on red
Unless such an action is specifically forbidden by posted signage at the intersection. A little-known fact is a left turn on red is also legal provided both the road you are turning from and the road you are turning onto are both one way streets (ergo - if you were going to make a turn at that intersection at all the only way to go would be left)
but anyway the cop checks the registration and it says my beretta is a 4 door???? he gets a wild hair up his *** and checks the vin from the dashboard and then im fuked cuz the vin doesn't match since the dashboard is from the other beretta
(A) I am having problems believing that you've got a registration certificate that lists a Beretta as a sedan....(B) On the off chance that you actually do have a screwy registration that lists your Beretta as a 4-door I say if you are so unaware of the paperwork that is required by law to be contained within the vehicle at all time being invalid or in error then you deserve to get jacked as a result. Do you not READ the paperwork given you regarding your vehicle(s)???
i tried to explain and he tells me im a liar and if i don't stop lie'n he was going to arrest me, so needless to say i shut up and a few hours later the tow truck pulls up and hauls my car off
Sounds as if he knows you well or something? Is this a cop you've encountered previously for some reason?!?

what can i do legal-wise?
Call an attorney. Quick. You may still be screwed for changing out the dashboards (which they are just going to look at the fact that the VIN plate did not match the car it was in....they may choose to completely disregard the fact that it was done for cosmetic purposes and you do actually own the donor car from which the dashboard was sourced.) You're not new to Louisiana....you know how crooked our law enforcement gets sometimes.....especially down there in the Crescent City.

Good luck getting it sorted out, I 'spose. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

correct and thats the reason why he checked the VIN was because it was listed as a 4 door beretta... if not for that i would have gotten away... but anyway i called the tow truck company and they said i have to get a release form from the DMV, i went to the DMV and they said i have to have the title, registration, and insurance papers for BOTH cars and they must be up to date... so i had to take a trip to the insurance company, i got insurance on my other beretta but couldn't get the plate today, when i went to the DMV they said i can't get the release form until i have a hard plate... so i have to go back tom and renew the registration at the DMV then i can get the release form... anyway i have to pay another nights stay at the impound... hopefully they take it easy on me pending pay time

btw i think this beretta looks very nice

If you think that looks good then you need to get out more. To each its own I suppose though.

The vin should be in other places on the car. Take the photos and titles like said and then tell them they should have checked the vin from another location on the car to verrify your story...

Get the charges droped.

sigh stupid pig someone should show him how to check other vins besides the one on dash hell thats the one lame chop shops change anyways as its the esiest sheesh

No, they do not. The 4-door on that platform were called Corsicas. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
yup thats true I have a 94 corsica //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif and he could have easily comparewd the vin on the doorjam and motor, so im calling bullshit, just like the guy that he road raged and beat half to death LMAO

you have about as much credibilty as boominbeast....

im assuming you were blairing your stereo, ran through the red light...got pulled over, acted a fool...cop noticed the vin and had your shit towed..[/story]

who fixes up a beretta anyway? i wouldnt have believed you either.

its actually illegal to swap the vin tags..

why the **** would the VIN tag be on the dashboard? i just went outside and looked at 8 different cars, all different makes and all the cars have VIN tags attached to the cowl not the dashboard. Its actually riveted to the metal frame under the windshield..............
