So heres the story. I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. I recently got a 1000 watt system hooked up to it. 4 days later my car died while driving. Got it to jump start once and died soon after. So i put it battery on charger at 2v overnight. Next morning took it off charger it started right up. So i turn the car off go back in a hour to start and leave for school and it will not start. I noticed whoever wired my system, the amp power cord instead of going to the battery it is wired to the fuse relay box. I have no idea what needs to be replaced or what to do. Any suggestions, ideas, would be helpful. Thanks!

Deja Vu? Could have sworn I read this earlier.
It's more than likely a bad battery or alternator. My guess is bad battery. Take it to Pep Boys and have them check it out.
yeh sorry i had made a thread earlier but i left out a lot of info that maybe i thought could be useful. anyways i dont really have a way of getting it there besides towing which is pretty expensive, i mean is there any way i could tell what the problem is, im down to 3 things it could be from researching and asking. those 3 are battery, alt, or a blown fuse in the relay box.

finally got the Q hooked up huh?

why did he hook up to the relay box? why didnt you hook it up yourself!!!! all my advice for nothing!!! lol

hope you find your problem.

lol long time man. ik i should have, i let my laziness get the best of me here.

You could remove the battery from the car and take it down to a pep boys, autozone, sears, etc. My bet is that it's the battery, also.

get the car running and disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery and if the car dies then the altenator is bad if it stays running then take your battery to autozone and have it tested and if its good then take the car to the place where you had it hooked up and tell them that they get to pay for your car to be completly rewired

alright well i got a different battery in and its running got a test done on bat and alt and they are both good. now i need to know what caused this or what i can do to prevent this?

Wait a couple days. Go out driving more than usual. Let it sit overnight.

Then see if you have any voltage drop on the battery. Use a DMM. If your battery is good when the car is off it should read 12.6v or very close to it (between 12.4 and 12.7)

If it goes down then it's the wiring, if not than it was just caused by a bad battery.
