I am looking into going to a technical school this summer to learn car audio and get my certification so i can open up my own car audio business. What is the best one to go to?

i would seriously reconsider,the way the internet is taking over,i really dont see a real profitable future for car audio stores,just go ebay and you can find about about every brand out brand new in the box(with warranty).and you and me know that these folks on ebay are not authorized,companies like kicker and rockford could stop this if they really wanted to,but when you talk to them about it,its like we doing all we can to stop it(yeah right),the bottom line is companies now days are only interested in money.

I plan on opening a mobile audio and video installation and customization shop.

iam with him.. not only car audio shops but car performance shops suffer and cant keep up with the internet if your going to be opening up in a city with alot of competition.. now if youropening in a town where you can make money and the local market isnt flooded then thats different. Open one up in a military town and then offer financing(belive me on this)

i cant believe people really just said that working/ trying to start/owning a car audio video and customization shop is not worth it. I think it is totally worth it. I make a ton of money helping people around me and im in no way affiliated with a shop. Get certified and pursue what you want. It IS worth it and it will work... heck look at bestbuy they make a killing and they have sub par installs and equiptment. I actually make money of best buy/ HHGregg.

There is more to a business than just learning how to do customization and installation. There is also the business side of it. If you plan on starting a store you need to go all in on it. Most small car audio businesses don't last. A good business usually takes alot of money to get started. You need to go to: http://www.sba.gov/smallbusinessplanner/index.html and make sure that it is something that you really want to do. Like someone has already said, most people buy from ebay or online stores now and if people are the same there are they are here...they won't spend any money on custom installation.

this is true, but this is a 16-18 year old who wont really be starting a business for quite some time. Probably just gettin into the hobby and looking for some direction. I wasnt comparing starting a new company to best buy just sayin if they do good with the stuff they sell.....

I plan on opening one up in Little Rock Arkansas because there is nobody down here that does a good job and knows how to make custom enclosures
