Hi, thanks for reading.

I have a quick for those who might know if I"m going to blow myself up or not.

I have a physic's class demo I'm gonna do, w/ the unit on sound, and figured I could do this as 1/4 of my group's project.

So here goes

I'm wiring a sub up like this to play in a room. I have

-Kinetik 1400

-Brutus 1205 wired @ 2ohm

-150 ANL fuse between Pos on batter, and pos on amp (only a foot or so from the battery)

Here's how I have it wired.

I have the positive from the battery coming out in 0awg (only about a foot), to a 150ANL fuse, where on the other side of the fuse continues in 4awg wiring into the + on the amp.

I also took that positive and wired a smaller wire into the remote, I just read somewhere thats what you do.

Then wired it in straight 4awg back to the battery.

Is this safe enough to do a small thing in my class?

and is how i did the remote wire ok, since i'm not using a headunit, only RCA's?

Thank you for all help, here are some pics to help explain what I am trying to do.

I'm pretty sure that the remote is just a constant +.

You should be okay.

I mean, what else could be running through the wire?

Fuse it just incase.

And its up to your class whether its safe or not.

I don't see why not. Worst that could happen is the positive and negative touch on the battery and spark and potentially blow up the battery.

Whatever RCA's your running into the amp could be a problem.

Because if your using a home stereo, treble might try to come out of the subs?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Because for the RCA output on decks, they're designed specifically for Subwoofers.

RCA outputs on home stereos are treble and bass.

As far the RCA's, it wont be perfect, but I figure using the output for my normal subwoofer in my theatre, and using the low pass filter would eliminate voices coming out.

all the remote is, is a electrical signal that tells the amp to turn on. I've used a short 3" piece of wire to briefly turn an amp on by touching the pos & remote terminals of the amp together to make sure it worked. Doing it that way is perfectly fine

No. It depends on how the Headunit is setup as to what the RCA's are filtered to. Most of today's HU's use 3 outputs: Front, Rear, and Sub. In this case front and rear get a full range signal while the Sub usually has an LPF in the HU, as well as non-fading and bass boost.

Active capable HU's are setup the same way, execpt the front/rear RCA's can be switched to have a HPF on the tweeters and a bandpass filter on the mids.

you don't really need to fuse this set-up. You have all of it set up right. If you want, you can just run the remote straight from the batt + to the amp, and put a switch on the remote wire. or just unplug it. as far as setting up the filters so only the sub plays, just do it at the amp. and even if you get some full range signal thru the sub, it won't hurt it. just won't sound all that great.

i don't even know that i'd run the amp at 2 ohms. you aren't trying to maximize the potential of the amp, just doing a little demo, right? why drain the kinetic that much?
