Again that is a bit off on what you are suggesting. I understand what you are saying though.
However, you have to look at what is a better deal over all. There is no reason why some one can not buy a 2500rms sub and put 1k to it daily. It will work perfectly fine and sound great while doing it. Then if they want to upgrade in the future all they have to do is upgrade amps and done. It is call "future proofing" your system. Why buy things 3 or 4 times over? Far to many people including on this forum think you need to run RMS(or more) to get a sub to work correctly which is simply not true what so ever.
Not hating on you, just so happened I seen this very topic on a few threads and at some point this will need to be addressed instead of pushing off information that is not true.
However, in this situation there is no need to argue as I do not see him getting an 18 back there with a decent enclosure.
