Can you fit a 5 cube box in an '08 Impala?

I'm kinda set on an 18 becaue I had a JL Audio 18W3 some years back. It was in a smaller sealed enclosure with only a JL 500 block on it and its by far the best sub I've ever had to this day. Hit lows better than my 2 RE Audio SX 15s in a ported box and still had pretty good SQ doing it also.

IIRC those JLs were designed for sealed boxes.

I had a custom TC based 15 ported and being tuned at 31 hz, i hit good down to 25 hz or so while still having great SQ and getting loud. If you're looking for a good mix of loudness and lows, go with a ported 15 tuned low. Doubt you have the room for an 18 ported, and you'll probably have better response with the ported 15 than with a sealed 18.

I was very happy with my ported 15, and would still have it if it didn't get stolen from me.

I've seen people fit 18's into an Impalas trunk, on like 8k of power too.. If I'm remembering correctly the Impala has some really good space back there.

But I would also recommend 2 12's.

also his trunk is deadened really well.

Not saying youtube videos are good reference, but I've seen this guy locally, he puts A LOT into that trunk. All those batteries + box etc.

Hes talking about putting a Sundown 1200 on it, no way he has enough power for that 9918... And no, IA does not recommend those subs to go sealed. I would go with the Q with the High QTS or whatever, since that sub will be made to be in sealed.
You do understand that those statements are in no way correct with any driver right? Most subs will sound and work just fine with low power. Just because a sub can handle 1k or 3k rms does not mean you need to run that much to have it perform well.

The impala has limits I strongly recommend 2-12's for that trunk.
For a serious suggestion I would go with this as well.

I would never suggest to him to run a sub at 1/3 of the RMS. Of course any sub can run underpowered, but hes much better off getting an FI Q or something in that realm to control the sub better... Thats just a waste of money IMO, unless he plans on bumping up amps real soon.
