Can someone help me please.... Im Begging!

I Need to Know what i am doing wrong. My friend Just got a 1996 Civic and he wanted to Change His Stock Stereo to a CD player ~Kenwood; He has his retarded friend come over who says he can hook it up and after his friend Cuts off the stock plug so far down that you can barely see the wires anymore, proceeds to let him hook it up using only his teeth and electrical tape. well thats all fine and dandy but while doing this, he left the battery hooked up and he fried the stereo (i could smell the burnt sh~t when i walked in hours later) At least that is what i am assuming because there was no sound coming out, but the lights were on. He then told my friend that the stereo didnt work when i gave it to him just after pullin it from his mothers car and then the moron cut the wires on the stereos plugin the way he did the cars.

Now heres my dilema. Never in my life have i had a problem hookin up a stereo ~Until Now~ I have actually tried to hook 4 up in this vehicle now and i get the same 2 problems. 1. Lights on but no sound from the speakers 2. Sounds like ejecting disk but no lights or sound. Is it me or Is it the car? Please Help!! :shrug://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

So you're installing a new one.

Are you sure the wires you are running are correct. Grounding the speaker wires together will turn of the HU's internal amp. You might want to run all new wires...

Man you must really think im an idiot if you think ide do that.......

now seriously man, i checked all the fuses, wires and the speakers and checked the stereos they all work but that one his other friend hooked up. theres no extras that the stereo is runnin to its just a straight hookup. I tried a blaupunkt, a sony, 2 kenwoods and 2 pioneers. i have never in my life had trouble hookin up a system untill now.

So you checked all the wiring behind the dash to make sure there wasn't a short?

you say you tried everything? you checked all wiring... did you do so with a DMM? make sure there are no shorts... there are a 12v constant... a 12v switched... and a ground wire... then metering all speaker wires and so on until you find your problem...

I'm sure he did not. Hence the problem...

Actually I did, I spent two days going over eveything and have yet to find the short. And just to let you know, I am a Female not a Male so maybe you shouldnt be so sure of yourself in the future it doesnt seem to agree with you.

Yes I did, and I thank //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif you very much for your help. Im gonna try once more before throwin my shirt in.

meter each speaker... make sure each is reading 4... or somewhere around there... if it reads really crazy it might be a shorted or a bad speaker...

1. Lights on but no sound from the speakers 2. Sounds like ejecting disk but no lights or sound.

that's what you said in your first post... what do you mean lights on but no sound? cuz then you say no lights... does it just light up for a second and then go off? or does it actually come on and act like it's playing music but no sound? check the fuses under the hood... look for radio.. back up.... room... interior light... and cigarette lighter... look for those fuses in the fuse panels under the hood and in the car...
