Burp box...

Now days 150 is the new 140. I go to shows now and the lowest score might be around 150. Trunks doing 155 are pretty common now.
I'm hoping that Wednesday I'll be pleasantly surprised... by putting off the metering has given me some time to set my LP,SSF and redo my rear battery/tray... it is a purpose built box and seems to have worked... the look on my 19 year old's face was priceless when I demoed it yesterday for him... LOL!.. Mom won't even get in the car with it turned up... it's HER car...

Yep, the game has changed. I hate going to comps because I just can't stop thinking about what I would change on people's systems to be louder. But that's local to here, no a big audio scene without driving a bit.
No, you are definately spot on... even tho everyone is loud, alot of people arent very efficient doing it. Out here in cali the thing right now is everyone walling every car throwing as much power as they can at it... yet using some poorly designed enclosure. Lots of 152s and 153s out here on 10k+. That isnt impressive. My daily box with 2 12s does 150 clamping 16-1800w. Thats much more efficient than the wall with 4 15s and 10k doing 152, or the wall with 12 12s and 18k doing 152 (yes those are real competitors out here)

How would you rate a system with 2 12's in a blowthrough single cab Silverado that does 152-3 db with decent low end (no "burp" box)... it impressed the Sh*t outta me!

That's interesting you say that, I just design a wall for low tuned loudness, similar situation. Box had too much restriction of airflow through it. I'm picky about boxes and idk man. I don't understand what people don't get.

The first 2 most important things for being loud is a proper box and proper electrical, such as enough juice for your amp to make electrical sound with.

The reactions I've seen and been told just be redesigning someones enclosure, sometimes it's enraging because of how much of a score or pleasure they were missing out on.

Everything that exists can be though of as resistance. In boxes we have air resistance at certain frequencies. I see dudes not understanding how to channel air properly, not understanding how it pressurizes and how to take advantages of certain situations.

Yea. A lot of bpillar walls (4 15s or 4 18s) only doing 150-153db with 7k plus amps. and a lot of the time I notice people get some ok numbers but then at shows they meter 3-4 DB down from what they say they can do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I dont offer advice unless solicited now days. People get way too offensive about their **** now days. Especially the low to mid 50s guys. They think its super loud, so they dont care about efficiency. Even tho most of em should be doing their #s with 1/3 the power they have

Go on PLEASE... I'm soaking this Sh*t up like a sponge... oh yeah... that Silverado had a single DD M4 and 2 9512's... is that an efficient use of his power available?

That's cool... I've got enough knowledge to be dangerous but I really want to learn this right... Jeffdachef, KR15, LosisaTool, Mayhem, Hertz Mafia, and many others have taught me a BUNCH in a very short period of time... I'm at the "Digest the Info" point but I'll hit Ya'll up for sure... Thanks to all!

I'm being left out:(

So much wow in this reply. I wonder....have they asked you about your setup and can't figure out why they can't be like yours?

Simple. Uneducated about poor equipment usage. They're not using it efficiently....they just wanna be loud.

When someone is stuck on their own ideas of what is correct... or have drank too much "Koolaid"... even "good advice" is not considered because it does not fit their particular version of reality... I was living proof of that mentality... LOL!

True. It's hard to convince someone stuck in their own ways.
