Burp box...

True. It's hard to convince someone stuck in their own ways.
Try it on a 50 year old... LOL!... I had to decide on my own to be receptive to others viewpoints and admit that I did not know it all... It was not easy or without embarrassment... but that "bad taste" went away pretty quickly once It started to gel and make sense and those same members did ease the process by not dog-piling/harping on my mistakes... 25 years of experience let me make sense of of all pretty quickly... but being a "FNG" all over again is a hard thing to open yourself up to... you have to do it willingly...

always happy to see people have viewpoints like this

there's two sides to it, having no experience and being over confident and stuck in your ways; and being overly experienced and thinking your way is the only way and cant possibly be improved on or questioned

other than the ridiculous cost of my education, earning my pilots license from real professionals taught me (fortunately) at a young age to keep ego in check. the guy next to you in the cockpit verifying that you're following procedure isn't doing it to be a dick, he's doing it to keep both of you safe AND to verify he's not fucking up too (hopefully)

Well these locals get told they are loud, and sure, 153 is loud. So they feel no need to converse with anyone who isnt as loud as them. They see no problem being 1db louder than me on 4x the power and 4x the cone area. Its an end game result to them...

The great part is when they attend sizable shows and get placed in big boy classes due to cone area and power, and they lose their class by 8 or 9db. Basically our teams stock/non wall cars are as loud or louder than most of their walled cars.

Just stay above 40hz and you can still play stuff to test it out
Webbie 6 12s 45hz and 55hz

Jeezy Prime Minister 47hz

Ciara Goodies 51hz

Jay z Hello Brooklyn 2.0 49hz

Beamer benz or bentley 53hz

Project Pat Rinky Dink (rumble) 51-54hz
Out of the selection above ^^^^... The first seems to be the loudest, with #6 a close second... then #5 next... It may be that it is my perception... Wednesday I'll know for sure... the meter will not lie...

I should sweep it first... right?.. how loud during the sweep should I get?.. 135 or better?.. thanks this is all new to me again... LOL!

I only asked because the Blazer as I've got it sealed and deadened somewhat only starts to make body type noise/buzzing at about 141...

Meh you can make any of them do it in some alignment. At least any I've ever used.
You can at the expense of loads of efficiency by shrinking your box to the point where your response curve looks like sealed alignment. The point being low Q and higher Fs subs don't do well tuned low, or at least fall on their face compared to what they can do if you sacrifice some low extension for higher tuning and more box volume.

Really there isn't any music I'd actually listen to with much or anything below 36hz so tuning under 40 is typically a waste for me. While pipe organ music is quite cool and can have material as low as 8 cycles I don't think 120dB is even realistic....though I've never been to a pipe organ concert. I got on the Christ-Science mailing list to hopefully go down to hear a recital on their Aeolian-Skinner but the only thing they ever mailed me was solicitations to join their cult.

to non sq guys, they want that output. It sounds better to them, music and spl tastes is subjective and what you think is smooth, flat and nice sounding might just sound weak and unimpressive to others. Some times that extra output is not "a bit" of output its over 6+ dbs of output on the higher registries. Yes tuning higher with the appropriate sized box and port area can definitely have that much higher spl gain.
I am going to meter this thing tonight... but I am wondering how much port area is too much?.. I'm at 66 in2 now and if I change it to 75+ and adjust the box volume to stay near 46-8 hz will that higher port area make it more efficient?.. I don't have a problem with a little box surgery and a frankenbox DOES look kinda' cool usually... I did something similar to a box for a pair of CVX's I used to own with poor results as I changed tuning and did not understand what I did wrong... LOL!... but nowadays I do understand how to change tuning correctly so I am hoping I'll have better results...
