Burning smell with EVERY subwoofer I seem to use? Brand new L7 now.

Sure, you paid a good price for that L7 compared to other L7 prices.... No, you did not get a quality subwoofer for what you paid, and that is the point being made here. I paid less for my sub and amp together than what you did for that single L7... And they're both much better.

However, as has been stated a dozen times over... you need to turn down the output voltage on your line driver to 4 or 5 volts, and then set your amps gains WITH A DMM to put out 750w. If the sub still smells, you have another problem. And I'd steer clear of any shop that tells you its fine and normal for an enclosure or sub to stink for 2 years straight.

Not really, I do the kinda the same he does on other forums (troll), I just think he shouldn't even attempt giving advice if he's going to be a d*ck about it, disputes the entire purpose of helping someone, all of his comments from the go have been pretty much a smack in the face to anything I've bought, as if he's on a superior high and mighty level, which is fine, I just like to point it out. And alright littledane I'll pick one up in a bit.
All I have tried to do was help you. You dont listen. Im sorry you are unhappy with your setup, we have all tried to tell you how to get the most out of it. The fact is you have a OK sub in a way to small box. And you dont have your settings right. That has been said a hundred times. What dont you understand?

Because I was trying to figure out everything with the 8v into normal amps as I never realized that, in the process of getting hung up on that and understanding it, as people were saying my stock signal should have been fine when it was crap compared to now coming out of the line driver, you clearly blew a fuse over me not just saying "k I'll get DMM" and instead trying to actually understand it so I don't have to post another topic a few days later.

The thing is a DMM would fix everything. Dont set the amp to the birth sheet. Set it to the rms rating. They get those numbers running frequencies you will never use. And we also explained the line driver part to you a few times.

I was gonna say this but didn't feel like getting caught in the rough housing.

****, this is still going on?

OP, Most manufacturers "reccomend" way too small boxes so they can sell more woofers to the uninformed. Your box is too small and probably not aimed or positioned properly for good output. That sub is running at its thermal limits with or without clipping and will always smell funny if you push it at or around full power.... it may or may not fail eventually from this, time will tell.

IMO your wire size is not an issue, your electrical system shoudn't be an issue, you don't need a 300$ "distortion detector" from the biggest douchebag on the internet, and if it sounds good to you don't worry about clipping. If you "fix" all this stuff that people are trying to tell you that you need you will still make that sub smell bad and probably burn up the coil eventually.

Its $150... Just saying. I didnt buy on to support the douche, D'amore's name is on it also. I bought one cause its a good, accurate, easy to use product.

This ^^^^^

push a 750 rms sub with 900rms for long periods and it will get smelly its that simple

I never use anything beyond my ears and common sense to set gains. The fact that all source material is recorded at different levels makes any sort of complex (expensive) gain matching impractical. If you wanted to make a case that on a meter it may or may not matter, testing with a meter is the best method to find out where to set things.

SM is such a colossal cunt I wouldn't want a bar of gold with his name on it.
