Burning smell with EVERY subwoofer I seem to use? Brand new L7 now.

So your going from one overrated sub to another better but still overrated sub?
I'm sorry but the 9500 is a insane subwoofer, you can say what you want, but that is incredible woofer. But I'm sure if I instead bought a W7 you'd be happy right?

W7s are overpriced garbage too

Nobody is impressed by your 9500. It's a meh sub, way way way way way better for the price.

typical best buy shopper bro, asks a question then doesnt like the answers, really only wants other people to agree with his wrong answer
Yeah, let's go with that, I haven't heard them side-by-side next to the W7 and the 9500 or anything. I can get a W7 locally for 800$, 9500 for about 400-450$, I swear some car audio enthusiasts have some of the cockiest attitudes here how do you even expect someone to bother taking in your opinion? Think I'm going to go on YOUR cocky opinion or actual hands on experience with hearing the two? Yeah...I also like the second post with "nobody is impressed with your 9500" who the heck said I was trying to impress? Does your subwoofer equate to your **** size now? Poor guy.

Why dont you ask what subs you should consider for the kind of bass you are looking for? You will not hear W7, L7, or the 9500. You might hear 9500 but it wont be from MTX. It will be the real deal 9500. Im sure you would be MORE then happy with the results

I was just like you not to long ago. if it wasnt for some of the "cocky" people on this site I would not have a set up near the level i do now. i listened and now I have the loudest 2 12 setup by far in my area. By far the loudest, with a pretty **** good front stage and install to boot

You're going to best buy and buying these overpriced subs. People have given you advice in this topic, and you ignore it, and then go buy another overpriced sub and you expect people to be on your side?

People tried to help you, and you wouldn't listen, so now when you make another stupid choice, they are just going to troll you. Welcome to the car audio forums.

Because I never asked about the quality of my subwoofer, I did not come in saying "is my system crap?" but within the first five replys, maybe that's why I argue with anyone who thinks the solution is to buy something else (which is flat out idiotic advice, and flat out insulting) but I guess a lot of new people here play the roll over for the big dogs game. Ion, I don't recall you, or anyone really recommending a subwoofer, or a pair, and what did people help me with? What I gained from this entire thread is A. Everyone here seems to think my sub is crap (great, that's not helpful) B. Everyone here seems to think my amp ***** (not helpful). C. Everyone here seems to think my gains are too high (not helpful, they weren't). The fact was I could turn my gains up MORE and my sub is still fine, now it's pretty good, but I still prefer my old TR75 MTXs (but I can't fit those in the Challenger without a custom fiber glass enclosure).

So basically, I learned...nothing, sept that universally on caraudio.com, regardless of normal people loving them, Kicker is crap here, it's like buying a Taurus .44 Magnum rather than a Colt Anaconda. By that I mean it's actually built fine, it works fine, puts out fine power, isn't the most effiecent or the prettiest built, or the same "level" of quality, but it gets the job done, that dosen't mean people don't give you a degrading look when they see it though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif in the end, it still goes bang, for half the price. If I had spent LESS money on my SRT-8, and say got an R/T I would have plenty of cash to throw into car audio, I don't though, and I have always heard Kicker stuff is reliable.

Thats the thing.. Kicker stuff used to be great 10 years ago. Not so much anymore and we all know that. So what do you think the first thing to come to anyone heres mind? If you decide to upgrade in the future come on back and you will get hooked up. Or you could stick around and contribute cause you do have some knowledge. Stick around long enough and you will understand why you got the comments here that you did

Pretty much nailed it. IMO you are running that L7 at its limits and risk hurting it. The 9500 is a **** good woofer, the only thing wrong with it IMO is the price tag, but at 400$ it isn't terrible. That should handle 1200W continuous power (sine wave round the clock).

Sorry you ran into such douche-baggery here.
