80hz on the head unit. 80 hz on the amp. Make sure you have your subsonic filter on as well. Take your box's tuning and multiply it by .75 that's where your subsonic filter should be.Fair enough. Still, running at exactly 31 volts (for 1000w) did nothing to help. Before we move past the clipping idea, tell me, if you could, where my LPF should be at when setting gain? I noticed the voltage would jump quicker and to a higher point from increasing the frequency, without even touching the gain.
The t1000bd only has an on or off selector for the subsonic filter, and its on. Also, no real way of selecting your frequency. Theres marks above the dial, but doesn't correlate with the little knob very well. But, you can ballpark it pretty easily. Which is what I did when setting gain. Used a 50hz tone, then raised the LPF until voltage started to rise from 0 on my DMM.80hz on the head unit. 80 hz on the amp. Make sure you have your subsonic filter on as well. might just be the amp then. Try wiring it to 4 ohm and see if its any different. If its still like garbage then it might be the amp is defective. The t1000bd only has an on or off selector for the subsonic filter, and its on. Also, no real way of selecting your frequency. Sounds like iv done everything correctly....
Dear God, this thread is a train wreck. You are overpowering your sub if it's smelling bad. That means turn down the volume when it starts stinking.
If you're not getting decent output out of a 15" L7 with 1000W there's probably something wrong with your box.
It seems to me that the problem is that you want it to get louder. You can get louder by building a new box and/or buying a better woofer.
Pics of your box in the vehicle will tell us a lot.
Actually, im not one of the typical noobs that just want "loud" . My reason for the comparison and making complaints is that i was previously running 400 watts less and it was louder and had no problems. Iv had numerous high end speakers in my life, if it was as simple as oh yeah let me just get a bigger woofer and a bigger amp, I would do that. Iv seen the potential of this setup. Its not at that currently.
I could try and get some.pictures, but last time i tried uploading them, i couldn't do it. But its in a custom made box tuned to spec, ported, sitting across the entire back seat in an extended cab pickup. Sounds amazing when running properly.
Dust cap.. never heard that term before. Im assuming that's the face of the woofer, the exterior thats in the middle of the foam, or in my case, rubber surround. But no, iv not noticed heat. And the speaker, box, and the port are all within arms length while driving. And no, definitely not a new speaker. It's been in the same box its whole life. Only thing it hasn't had a ton of play time is at 1 ohm.is the sub brand new? or like new with moderate play-time?
when you get the burning smell, is the sub's dust cap hot?
Yeah. But iv previously had it wired at 4ohms on a smaller amp. This is the first time its seen RMS in a while. So box, sub, vehicle remained unchanged and the ONLY thing you changed is the amp and it is not quieter and smells funny?
