help on head unit and electronic crossover??

hey guys. I recently bought a head unit that I can set the frequency values on for my mids, highs, and subs. but i'm using a electronic crossover. so will the head unit frequency settings have any effect on my sound or will the crossover cancel the head unit settings and take over? thanks guys, David
