Bumping sub outside of box?

On JL's site they have a video of a 13 W7 bumping outside of a box, but the point of the video is to show the crazy 32 mm Xmax on the sub.. Does it hurt the sub to run it outside of the box? I want to try to it... lol

Its really no different than inside a box in terms of what can hurt it. Overexcursion obviously can hurt it, keep careful watch, aswell as giving too much power, though you should be reaching xmech way before you give it too much power playing free-air.

just be careful...power handling decreases in a Free Air application
