Build Log: XXX Install and More...

I filled in the corner that was cut out.....fine tuned the piece I had cut and welded that in, then I cut a small triangular piece to fill another spot in there. That whole corner is really strong now, turned out pretty good actually.

I need to go out and finish tacking and grinding the rectangle one, then tack in the big one.

Ill be back with another update.................:tired: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Where I am leaving off tonight.....I sprayed primer on it because I will be driving it tommorow, but hopefully I can finish welding all the sheet metal in tomorrow night.

why is tha car rusted so bad? salt?
Pretty much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Its a combination of poor design and salted roads in the winter time.

At the back side of the rocker panel there is a hole that leads through to the under side of the car. Well, inside of the rocker, at the back it was filled with this weird rubbery mesh, which collected lots of dirt, debris and moisture over the years, rotting the metal from the inside out. The rest of the rocker from the back on up to the front is filled with a really dense foam, which has prevented the moisture from getting up any farther....THANK GOD!

But, I gutted that back rocker, cleaned the inside and primed it....and with a solid coat of POR 15 to the entire underside of the car, I should be in good shape.

I just dont even want to think about getting over to the passenger side. I know it isnt nearly as bad as the drivers side, but Im not getting my hopes up till I take off some paint.

The rockers on the thunderbird werent nearly as bad, still had something left at the back, and only the drivers side was rusted. So, Im hoping for the same with this car, but I cant say for sure until I start grinding down the other side.

I need a good nights rest, a new auto tinting shield, a face mask, and a set of ear plugs.....until then......Im not going anywhere near this thing lol

lol thats cute mikey, the BTL set up was so smooth lookin and u put alot of work into it. i hope this new build is killer:eek:
Thanks man, and yeah it should be pretty cool. Im not going for a loud ground pounder anymore, but when Im done, this should be a really clean, functional install, Im hoping for something that is worth while to take down to some shows. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thats not bad on the sheetmetal work... little grinding/ body filler and you'll never tell...

and while your at it, why not wetsand that basket so its uber smooth
Yep, not too bad of a start.

Ohhhh the basket will be smooth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif After the sanding I did on it, and the two coats of primer, its already really smooth. It doesnt have any of the cast look to it anymore. And Im just getting started on it.

Ill probably hit it up a little more with some sanding, then do a little more primer before I hit it with the good paint. Im hoping to get the same finish on the basket and the amps, so everything in the trunk will match.....we will see //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
