So this morning while I was leaving for work I ran out and set the gain on the KX2500 with my DMM so I could play around a little during the drive.
Something is weird though. The gain was roughly were I had it with my previous setups, when I wasnt running 3-way active. However, Im not sure if it has to do with the deck being in 3-way mode or not but my pre-out voltage must be much lower.
I have the gain around 1/2 way up now, it was around 1/4 before. Not a big deal, but it has me wondering. I set the gain at 44.2 AC volts this morning with a 60hz tone, which is a little less than 1000wrms.....initially I was reading 10.5 volts....an incredible 55wrms!!! lol
After listening to it during the drive I am shocked.....something must be up with my meter or something. I will have to check it out tomorrow. The sub isnt being clipped or over-worked, but its definitely getting some power....I honestly didnt expect nearly this much output from it.
Actually, now that I type this I remember setting it with a 50hz tone before. In the kicker manual it recommends the use of a 60hz tone though, so I tried that. Ill investigate it more tonight or tomorrow once Im off work. I should be at about 63 AC volts though to get my 2kwrms...
