Well my amp took a shit...

Ive been worried about the amount of moisture I have been noticing in my trunk during these winter months, and for some reason its gotten to the amp. I never had a problem with it last winter...

My car sat for a few days while I was up north and I hoped in last night and drove around and it played just fine. Earlier tonight I jumped in to head down the road to my buddies, I pulled out onto the main road and turned it up and when I clicked from volume 23 to 24 the sub immediately cut out. I turned it down and hurried to my buddies to pop the trunk and investigate.

First thing I noticed was moisture on the case of the amp and the protection light was light up. Tried messing with a few things to get it back on but had no luck.

Tomorrow Ill probably pull it out and wire it up again to make sure, but as of right now Im thinking about scraping most everything...

Was out at the bike show today and I fell in love with the KLX 250sf. Dealer pricing for them is like 4900. If I could put 2500 down I could finance it for like 80 bucks a month for 2 years.

Thats the first amp I have EVER had take a shit on me....and I have owned several.

I take really good care of my stuff, but this just kills it for me.

It was definitely caused by moisture, unless the vibration from the subwoofer bumped something loose under the false floor. Ill investigate in the morning.

I never had a problem like this last winter though, but the amp was sitting upright on the back of the box before, so Im sure any water could run off of it that way.

My cheap *** little Hifonics would go into protect from moisture all the time when I had it in my T-bird. All I would do is keep it off for a little while and let it dry up, then fire it back up.

I might just send it in and get it fixed...who knows, Im just pissed.

Could be an excuse to change amps all together...

Too bad Polecat never comes around these boards anymore

Well I felt the same way when the Cyclops took a dive....lol

It comes with the territory I guess and the depression from the work wasted is a pain in the ***.

Well if you keep plugging along I'll check in and see where your going with it. I was hoping to see this build though for sure.

Yep, the amp is toast.

Goes straight into protect. Opened up the case of the amp which revealed the area that the moisture got to. I noticed some darkening and discoloration near a couple of the fets right in that area. Nothing inside of the case is blown though, so Im sure its an easy fix.

The audioz will continue, I do plan I finishing up the front stage, but it seems I will remain subless for a looong loooooong time....
