*Build Log-18"BTL-KX2500*

Ive got new vids coming for you guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It is now tuned to a 32hz spot on and its perfect! The calculator I used for the first port was off due to not accounting port displacment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Whoops.....so I was tuned below 30hz with that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif 28~29 area.....then the next port was at 34~35, and now with the extension I threw on it its right at 32.

If you own a BTL, tune it to 32hz, take my advise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Unless you like hammering ~20hz material, then go around 28~30, or if you like the >35hz range tune to 34~35. But if you want a good range of of play stick with 32 and you wont be disappointed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

BTW I will be making a different port, it will be flared on each end //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

And it still leaks in the trunk real bad since I havent had time to seal the rest of it off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The front window bounces quite a bit, the doors and door panels also move a lot and so do the side windows. It retains the upper end pretty well and I can still play material down to 10hz without a subsonic filter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Throwing almost 3000wrms to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

BTW I just saw that photobucket jacked the quality of the vids a ton more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

edit- If you watch the vids watch them in full screen! Also, these cars are very rigid, everything in them is solid, the fact that I have as much flex as I do blows my mind. With all the previous setups I have had in my thunderbird it was almost impossible to flex the front window or doors..

I need to paint this **** car but Im not sure if I want to spend hours of my time and a decent chunk of change and then drive it all day worrying about scratching it up. Plus, if I ever did damage the paint I would be so much more upset, I like being able to drive around and now worry about anything hitting the car lol. Thats what the weekend driver is for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well I finally wrapped the inside panels. Its almost sealed off completely now, I foamed up some spots but theres still some areas I need to fill in and I still have to glass the rest of the enclosure...including the braces cuz I broke them loose.

But heres some pics...

And yes the port will be painted black. I didnt waste my time or the paint on this one because it wont be the last one I will be using. Im going to order a set of duct work flares for the ends of the port and make a new one with the flares.

Thanks guys, yeah the vids really dont do it justice since they are all taken with my shitty *** digi cam but its hella loud. Its fun driving down the freeway on my way out to class and work and watching the front window bouncing lol.

But keep in mind this is just one woofer....I havent seen many vids of single 18 setups moving massive amounts of air or anything. I think this compares very well to other setups I have seen, for just one sub it is impressive enough for me on music, which is exactly what its built for.

And yes, it looovvessss the lows. With

And this is really the absolutely biggest enclosure you can fit in this car that is one square piece without doing a complete wall and loosing the back window. So really 1 18 is as big as I could do anyways until I wall it off completely.

Im debating on picking up 4 MJ18s and putting them in a large sealed enclosure similar to this, or just waiting till I get another BTL and doing a full wall.

Got some more stuff done so far today. Ive got a killer idea for a grill on the front that I may get working on here shortly. In the mean time I got some pics while I wait for all the resin to dry.

Nice setup, I like how you took your time to do the lil details to clean it up and make it look so presentable. With a BTL 18 and almost 3000w I know its loud vid quality or not, great job! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
