Build around Alpine X 12"

orion and ppi used to be under the same roof back in the day, who owns orion these days?
Directed/DEI or whatever they go by these days. All xtr1500s come with a minimum 1700rms birthsheet and they are Korean built. Not too shabby for the $. My only complaint so far is the subsonic is fixed at 25hz, but I'm using it for spl burps so it doesnt really affect me.

oh yeah, i knew that LOL old guy memory problems. When i got my Elite.4 i was on DEIs site and saw their sub brands. It would be nice to see all of the original 3 brands ADST owned under one roof with quality manufacturing again. A/D/S/ still holds a warm place in my heart. First amp i ever owned was a PQ20.2. Loved that thing

So the xtr-1500s might push a 4 ohm sub decently? Basically you need a higher power amp if you're powering a 4 ohm sub? I will probably have a decent sized ported box I think I read the X suggests 1cu foot of air in the box but that sounds kinda small... I would have gotten 2 R's but I just wanted one do it all sub, I'm not going for huuuugge sound just quality bass and two subs takes more room than one. I'll want it to bang but i will be playing it at regular or a little louder than your average car music listener volume mostly.

Earlier in this thread you stated it was a dual 4 coil sub... that means you'll have a 2ohm final load. Unless you series/parallel it to 8 ohms and in that case you'll really need a good sized amp to get all the power you'll want to the sub.

1ft3 enclosure? recommended by Alpine?.. if it is it's the absolute minimum for ported or most likely in the sealed range somewhere. As far as ported goes I think Alpine recommends around 2ft3 net, I could be wrong... that XTR 1500 at 2 ohms should power that sub pretty well if that's the direction your leaning to purchase an amp... it's not my first choice but I never recommend amps anymore... personal reasons, don't ask... lol

An XTR 1500 at 2 ohm on that sub in a low tuned properly designed box should do pretty darn good BTW... might surprise ya'

Oh dual 4 ohm coils would let it run at 2 ohms through the amp? That opens up a lot of options. I'll do a little shopping and come back with a few amps for yall to analyse.

And 2ft3 sounds more like a good size.. im lost on why people dont use ported boxes...

A decent 2ft3 net slot ported enclosure will be over 2.5ft3 externally... even using an aero/round at around 2ft3 net you'll probably be around 2.3-2.5ft3 net (just spitballing here). And ya'... look at 2 ohm power (for the amp) with a dual 4 sub.

I have a 2015 altima currently but im going to try to sell it and get a little cheaper or equally valued 4x4 suv for camping, dont want it to take up tooo much room but good low and crisp bass is a necessity as we know. I think I posted my first car was a volvo wagon and I needed a capacitor to keep the lights from dimming but if I get for example a not current but the last generation tahoe do you think I'll need a capacitor or does it have enough of an alternator now than older cars?

And then the Orions everyone has been suggesting.. lowest i can find is 260. But thats just a day of work in difference from the others for me.. do they really have that much better, more solid and accurate specs? I'd really like an amp that doesn't pull super hard off the alternator and have to deal with a capacitor, etc. so i'm willing to pay for quality and something that accounts for things like that.

You said snagged it under the Rockford amp so I'm assuming that's what you got but are still looking?

Yes basically, got my amp got my box and wiring and its like.... lets go. haha . like im saying im looking for an efficient amp that wont put too much strain on my system to have to get a capacitor or a bigger alternator.. Is that fockford fosgate an efficient sub? I always thought they had good brand rep

I like that infinity k1000 but itll be pushing a sub thatll take 3000 rms at 4 ohms right? I just want background deep bass dont want to drown out stock speakers.. i usually listen to my music around half or less because thats where the stock sub's sweet spot is..
