Breaking in new subs?

You should be happy with them FU Audio subs ... I'm with Popwarhomie, I like to take it easy on the spiders for a few days. That being said, I reconed one of my subs last thursday, only got about 15 min play time on it, then went straight to world finals with it. As soon as my class was done metering Sunday, it was full tilt demo time .... no issues.

I break in my woofers... Spiders like to rip when they are brand new and you go full tilt... I wouldn't know though..... Never had that issue......... *Cough* Soundqubed HDC3s.. I just go easy on them for a week to loosen up the spiders.
Those spiders were pretty poor no matter what you did. The "break in" line was just a cop-out to dodge honoring warranty claims.

A woofer being able to magically handle more power after some "break in" ritual has been completed is one of the most absurd and illogical myths going and people keep parroting it.

How hard is it to Re-Cone a woofer? Like if I did this all cherry had no problems I should be able to re cone pretty ezly or is it rocket science??? I cooked these FU750s n the coils are rubbing now? It still plays really loud but at low volume or if you depress them u can hear them scraping...

Tho I am sad that after less than an hour at 80% volume and the gains set to about 45% these subs now have issues... Tho I had the bass nob almost maxed and was trying to take a video on the hardest song I could lol.. I don't think break in time is a factor when it comes to burning the coils a lil bit or am I wrong there?

You clipped them to death already???
They are one of the easiest recones I've done. The recones come with coil spacers and glue.
Right on tho, I'll order some kits on Friday when I get paid... I just know now where there limit is at... Just ***** that it'll be a $120 learning experience lol

Super easy to do, if you help just make a thread.

I myself have done 5 or 6 this year alone.

If you need to clip like that to get them the way you want it to sound then you should upgrade or it will probably happen again... and again...

All of my subs I have had, I made a good box or payed for 1 and wanged on them instantly.Only failure I've had was a SQ hdc 3 and the triple joint failed and it was user error. I personally never believed in that bs break in crap unless its really cold and new subs, then I start out a lil mellower.

yeah this is why people need to know the correlation of how the recording levels in bass directly affects your head unit preout voltage which directly affects your power output which can easily lead you to clipping. When you are not there pressing on the gas pedal to charge the alt, the voltage drop can make you go into clipping as well.

There is no break in time, you just cooked them yourself. Hopefully you learn from this.

is your box huge? also is there no chance they would be warrantied?

Box is 328lbs 48"x30"x20"... It was just user error bro, I wouldn't even ask for replacements... Anyway yes Jeff with out the HO alt I believe this is what happened, ie the voltage drop that lead to clipping because it was fine playing at that lvl for like 30 minutes driving around. The amp n subs weren't even warm n I got home n put in juicy Juice - Bounce boosted with is about the hardest bassline that drops immediately and dont stop... So since it was idling amp 60a probably even a lil lower it caused a bad moment of clipping that I couldn't hear cuz I was standing outside of the van with it closed up... Just have to Re-Cone n get an O-scope n work on saving for the HO...

It ***** but after $1800 building n buying tools n stuff I'm glad it itll only cost $120 to Re-Cone them which was one of the major factors in selecting the fu750 cuzthey seem rather cheap to Re-Cone...
