Boss Chaos CH3000D???Any good?

My friend sold me this amp for 150,i havent hooked it up to any speakers yet(waiting to see which speakers to get)The amp says its 3000 watts and 1700RMS at 2ohms but i know with Boss theres no ways its putting out that many watts,so im just wondering if anyone knows anything about these amps and if it could run lets say 2 12inL5's or is this amp a piece of crap and i should go with some subs that are less power hungry

So do you think their ratings hold any truth to them and if not what would you say they are

And do you think i paid too much for it
