Well, *if* your amp is pushing 500 RMS watts, you don't want a 1200w rms sub.... You need to kinda match your amps to your subs. You can easily blow a sub by underpowering, you'll end up clipping, most likely. Find a sub that's around 650RMS or less.

Fosgate P2's, nothing special just entry level woofers but they sound decent and will get somewhat loud off of that amp

You have 600 watts... If it was me I'd find a local place that sells powerbass and go get a set of ps12's. I get them at a shop here for under 90 bucks for the pair. 250rms each.

They are light and will move easier than a stiff higher power sub. Stick them in a good box because the box is 90 percent of the whole deal anyway as far as sound/loudness and sq. I have a set that I've been putting at least 450 watts to depending on the amp I'm using for nearly a year now.

They are in a box that is 1.6 3^3 slot ported. Havn't a clue as to tuning but 57 hz is where it's the loudest and gets 140+ db's and don't sound to horrible doing it.

Stop. We gave you our honest answers. Don't buy either brands. Stop being cheap. There are plenty of choices of good products near those prices. A lot of people here have great setups because they browse the For Sale section.

If the assumption is nobody can set a gain on a small amp what makes you think they'll get it right with a more powerful amp (or less power capable speaker)?

You would have to try REALLY hard to blow a 1000w rms sub (even a cheap one) with a ~500w rms amp, cheap or not. You couldn't blow a pair of them even if you wanted to.

Jeremy, the sub seems respectable IMO. It has a 3" VC, so if nothing else, it can handle some power. Actually it looks VERy similar to the Optidrive 1232d's which are regarded as a pretty solid sub.

The Sony would work ok, you just won't be able to push a pair of those subs anywhere near their limits - nor any other decent pair of 12's. There is no danger in damaging the subs AT ALL.

You can wire a pair of the L12's for 4 ohms and bridge the amp which should get you around 250w rms per sub. Plenty to get them moving fairly well in a good ported enclosure.

The subs are OK imo -- plan for an amp upgrade.

wire it in series so your amp sees a 4ohm load. Boom, you keep the sony amp, which hopefully puts out at least 400w rms, and you power an excellent sub. Just get a good box for it.
