I'd personally wait for the U. I dont think you would gain much if anything going from E12 to Sa10. Also, the U is intended for small boxes.

It being a shallow mount sub won't have negative side effects on quality/output right? Have no experience with shallow subs.

The U isnt shallow mount. Its just optimized for small boxes
