**Battery or Altenator** Plz advice???

just read the thread and figure it out, nobody taught me how to do it. If you are logical and know how to use tools, you should be able to do the big 3. if you have questions, post up pictures of your engine bay and we can tell you where to run the wires.
im about to take some pictures..... one sec

alright, i mean, we definitely don't mind helping noobs out (well, some do), we just get kinda pissed off at the people who want to half *** things and not learn it
I wasnt even being rude, i just asked this fckin retard a question, while trying to help and he goes ballistic. fck this dude.

get your electrical checked-(can be done for free) check to make sure you have at least 4gauge wire going from your battery to the amp (often says so on the wires plastic coating). At least look at the negitive post of the battery and follow the wire from that that is bolted down to the frame. ADD a 4 gauge wire to the negitive post and bolt/screw it by where the stock wire is (this is a part of the big 3). if there is no improvement look at doing the rest of the big 3 and or look into getting a better battery as from what i see 400 watts isnt going to require a high output alt but when you add the new battery you SHOULD finish off the big 3

Congratulations, you have found phase 1 of a big 3. Usually you can go to Autozone, near there batteries they have a "battery ground cable" with connectors already on it (if you cant buy some 4 gauge and put them on yourself.) Just follow that cable till it screws into your car somewhere, usually near the battery, and replace it with the 4ga or better you just got from Autozone (pep boys, Napa, whatever... probably even walmart)

Eye spy with my eye, the 2nd part of your big 3

This connector probably has 2 (well seance your install 3) leads. One runs all the way back to your amp. One runs into your firewall (or a fuse box under hood) to go to all you other electrical connections. The one that runs across to your engine is the one you want to replace. In case you don't know what your alternator looks like. Look where your belts are in the front. One of the items with a pulley on it, that is attached to your engine, not actually a part of it, is the alternator. The housing is round(ish) and about 3 inches in diameter. There is usually a red plastic cover on the back of it covering the lead you want to replace. Try to keep most of it in tact.

As for the third (the engine to the frame) you need to look around a bit more. It will probably be the only cable by itself in there. It may be all copper flat flex stuff, or a black insulated piece usualy win shiny copper connectors though. See where your battery grounds, sometimes the engine will ground at the same point (that should make it easy to find. If not a good place to look is behinde the engine, going to some place on the firewall. Good luck.

THANK YOU!!!! SERIOSULY!!

oh yeah and just to add something, ive seen a lot of people have problems with power, overheating, and blowing in-line fuses with kicker mono amps and 2 subs.
