**Battery or Altenator** Plz advice???

I'm getting mixed advice, information, and everything else. I have a kicker class d 400.1 mono amplifier, with 2 kicker cvr 10's. and i have it hooked up to a 1 farad capacitor(rockford fosgate). and my headlights still dim!! also when i crank my music up loud my head unit(facotry) will skip sometimes. but it also skips sometimes when i dont have it cranked up to the top.

I went to auto zone today, to run a test on my alternator, so the guy checked the battery and said the battery was good, and if thats good the alternator is as well. i told him i have a stereo system and he checked my battery's amperage. he told me that my battery puts out 675 amps or amperage and that i should get a better battery that puts out more amperage like 800 or so. so should i do that??

i have a 2004 suzuki forenza.

by the way, i cant do the big 3. wish i could.

why cant you do the big 3? What size is your alt? You arent really running a lot of watts so the big 3 would help alot. Also, a battery stores energy, not creates it. So a battery isnt going to "put out more."

why can't you do the big three? it can be done on any car, regardless of year/make/model, and isn't very hard to do. Well, do the big 3 or pay someone to do it on your car, then buy a deep cycle battery. high output alts are very expensive, so i would try everything else first

i cant do the big 3 because when i pop my hood, it's like chinese langauge to me, i dont know what the hell im looking at. i dont know anything about car parts, wires, etc. not a single thing about them.

but getting a better battery wont help even a little bit??? he said get one with more amps. dont they have specific batteries made for car audio. and i live in charlotte,nc and if i knew someone who could do the big 3, i would most definitely pay them.

I'm sure a nice battery, and alternator would help allot... They are just saying don't spend the 500$ on them until you know you need to...

You would also have to pay someone to install the alt. as well so...

if the battery stores more energy, amps, or whatever then wont that help though. a bigger/better battery will have more energy to supply my electrical system, lights, amp, etc.

Yes, but if the wires in your car are too small for the energy to travel through, then you could have 10 batteries and still have the same problem. (big 3 will solve this)

Also, if your alt is too small to charge the batteries, then again, its a worthless upgrade.

My suggestion is to start at the cheapest solution (big 3) and go from there, as i would imagien, with the wattage your running, your stock electrical should be able to keep up with it without a problem but your main wires are probably 4 guage, or even 8 guage which is restricting them.

there saying the problem may not be in the supply but the delivery. Changing the delivery (the big 3) costs about $20 and a few hours of your time. Changing a batter (say a optima yellow top) would cost you about 180 to start(http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=ULT%2D9014%2D045&N=700+400089+115&autoview=sku). Also, you were missinformed, they do make car audio specific batteries. These Kinetics for example are very nice (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8531_Kinetik+HC+800.html) Or you can get the larger one http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7341_Kinetik+HC+1400.html

They even have bigger should you feel the need.

Also the alternator is gonna be at least 250 if there is a commonly made HO one for your car, if not, its a custom job and you need to call around to see who can rewind a stock one for you, but its gonna cost alot + install fees.

i want to do the big 3, the only problem is finding someone who is capable of doing that for me.

Can you not read and see what others have done, and then implement it on your own vehicle? If not, then do you have a reputable shop near you?

just read the thread and figure it out, nobody taught me how to do it. If you are logical and know how to use tools, you should be able to do the big 3. if you have questions, post up pictures of your engine bay and we can tell you where to run the wires.

dont be a ****ing dickhead, and insult my intelligence. of course i can ****ing read, i can read that big 3 forum all day long, guess what im not gonna touch a thing under my hood, cuz i will not know what im doing for sure. im not an expert, mechanic, people have different cars. and im not gonna risk my health. it's obvious you people know what to do, know about gauges, wires, grounding and all that stuff but i dont. i dont even know what to buy.

what is a reputable shop?
