Of COURSE my 2006 Grand Caravan burns gasoline! But I don't use it for much! Almost exclusively the Leaf! I have to drive down to get groceries it's easy and uses NO gasoline! Just like my bicycle!! COOL!

It took lots fossil fuel to:
1. Mine ores for the car from the ground with heavy equipment
2. Transport the ore to a refinery
3. Energy was used at the refinery to smelt the metal
4. Transport metal (and other materials) to factory.
5. Obviously the factory uses electricity (mostly from coal power plants) and natural gas.
6. Transportation to the dealership on a car hauler
7. Unless your power grid is nuclear or hydroelectric, you're still using fossil fuels!! Also, if you are using electricity to charge your car from a coal burning power plant, you're way less energy efficient than a gas/diesel vehicle from an energy standpoint!!! Plus it's more expensive and range is limited.

My Leaf may not beat 2.3 sec in a 0-60 dash but it still out accelerates most I ever stop at a red light with!

The thing is they have near their full torque instantly. They're very different than gasoline and diesel vehicles.
