Are my amp and sub compatable?

That is a very very small amp haha... Ok, for subs to be ran in pairs, they need to be the same voice coil configuration. If you buy a D2 now, you'll have to buy a D2 later. Which will give you an impedance load of either .5 or 2 ohms, which is rather unideal and not cost effective. Because then you need to find an amplifier that makes your optimal power at 2 ohms (expensive) or .5 ohms (risky).

So in your situation, where you know you'll be getting a second subwoofer down the line, I HIGHLY recommend getting a D4 right now. You'll be able to wire it to 2 ohms on the current amplifier. And when you get a new amplifier, it will still be wired at 2 ohms, which will limit the power to it. Then when you get a second woofer, you will wire the pair down to 1 ohm, and you can get the most power possible out of your amplifier.

Again, it is in the absolute best interest of your wallet and stress levels that you get a D4 woofer now, if you plan on adding a second one down the road.

Ok, FYI, I already bought the D2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif lol, and I MAY get a second woofer, not SURE yet. I want to stick with this one and run a nice amp to it and get the most from it, before I grab another 15"

you should have followed the general consensus on your last thread and done your homework to learn more about what you are attempting. The Audio Que 1200D mentioned earlier will be suited very well for what you need. If you bought it, you would need to wire the sub to the amp in series, The sub has 2 voice coils. They will be wired to a 4ohm load as mentioned here earlier. The AQ 1200 will produce 500 watts (@ 4 ohms)to the sub wired this way. Along with a well designed ported box, it will have the potential to be loud.

Adding another sub just like the one you have to the system later wired the same way parallel to the first one will cause the amp to produce almost 1000 watts( @ 2 ohms) to both subs.(500 watts each) Then you will need to build another well designed ported box for the both of them..if I read this right, eventually you will end up with twice the cone area and twice the power....and in theory, twice as loud. It is a 1 ohm stable amp which means the way you will be using it, should provide you with years of service and also provide adequate system headroom.

in your previous thread, you failed to mention the possibility of running two 15's...otherwise the advice you received would have been different on the VC configuration suggested.

yea, I can be irrational sometimes! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Regardless, with that tiny 320w amp, how would I wire that??

this is called series. The pos(+) of one coil to the pos of the LEFT channel on the amp. The neg(-) of the OTHER coil to the neg. on the RIGHT channel. Then you will have a small jumper from the open pos. coil to the open neg. on the other coil...this will create a 4 ohm load and the amp will be bridged mono to the sub.

Ok, i got Sound Quest SQ1200XS wiring kit. It seems legit. Now, do I need to do the Big 3 upgrade, or is it over-kill? I am looking for an amp, I like the Audiopipe AP1001D is this a good amp? will i THEN require the Big 3?

Thanks

1000w rms isn't exactly an excessive amount of power.

Unless there is evidence that your car's stock wiring is unusually small I probably wouldn't bother with charging system wiring upgrades, at least not until after it's installed. If you find there are some unusual electrical gremlins you can always do the big 3 at that point.

I did 2 of the big 3 in my car - 130A alt running 1500w rms and noticed little if any change.
