Ported is soooo much better than sealed if you have enough space and it's built properly.

Same sized box, roughly the same power, I just did a direct swap between sealed and ported. Ported was ridiculously louder.

I had a tool wanting to argue a ported box that hits 20hz cant play double bass.

Great, I like to sometimes listen to rap too anyway. Is there any special considerations for what sub and amp to buy? Could you possibly recommend something?

Looking at JL Audio - 10W6v3-D4. I have no idea what amp to get. The 4 ohm vs 2 ohm dual coil thing confuses me a little. I guess I can wire the speaker for 2 ohm then get an amp that's 600 watt rms on 2 ohm?

It just seems overwhelming to me. I don't even know where to start. Is there a good noobie guide somewhere? I mean just physically installing things I could probably figure out but it seems there is a lot to it when you're working with amps and what will fit in your car. Would probably help if I knew someone who could show me in person but I don't.

Its not rocket science man. Hook up the positive and negatives from batteries to the amp. Find openings to snake your wire through the car, hook up subwoofer. Head units, you got a whole manual to teach you.

measure out the amount of space you are willing to give up in your trunk in depth x width x height and check back with us.

I ordered a custom box from CCstang.

Going to give the active crossover a go for the front stage.

I don't know how you feel about buying used equipment. I would take this amp over the one you have listed: Sundown SAZ-1000d - Car Audio Classifieds and grab a SA in the size of your choice in a d2 from here to match: Sundown Yard Sale : 4/6/15 - Car Audio Classifieds.

definitely make that switch out if you can ^^^ the SA series are superior to the HDS200s and those new X series brutus are shady.

The Zeus and Olympus ones are trash. No way their 5k does close to that, obviously.

I would not hesitate to buy an older Brutus if I wanted to do a low-power budget build.

so true, go cheap and learn, when i started i never had intensions of building the "bass Tank"..... a year later here i am dropping 2k on a system
