They believe that talking in toungues is God's way of speaking to them although the Bible clearly dictates that since his inspired word is now complete, it is an antiquated and often abused practice.

They also believe that one can backslide and lose there faith, which is complete BS.....

this is what my questions are about I have allways went to baptischurchs but I went here with my girlfriend and really liked the preaching but then some guy started talking in a tounge and it freaked me out

then some guy said what this guy said

I just dont understand that

The bible states that no man is to add to the inspired word of God. It freaks me out as well, and Presby. churches play on peoples emotions more than Baptists.

I disagree with the speaking in tongues and backsliding, and have researched it throughouly, you have to look for yourself to determine your opinion on it, nobody can tell you which religion or sect to follow.

The "translator" was told by God what the other person was saying.

I am as well, although as of late I have been questioning the origins of the Christian faith, as well as the legitimacy of a translated Bible.

some translations are sketchy and overdone (KJ, NIV). Some went from original text using relevance and application for a better translation (Living Bible, NLT).

And every Christian should question the Christian faith. its the only way God can show Himself to you. Faith isn't supposed to be blind and dumb, it is supposed to fuse our powerful minds with His power

Speaking in tongues only happened at the time of Pentacost after Jesus "ascended" into heaven... that was the power of the holy spirit and the people heard real languages in their own dialects.

The speaking of tongues your hearing is just psycho babble and unbiblical because it does not meet the description of what biblical tongues is.

good point, i'm a NLT man myself
