Another build, 18" HDC3 (SQ)

Yes a unselaed lead acid battery will vent H2S gas when charging. Which is toxic at 10 parts per million and will kill at less then 1000, I work in refineries that produce H2s as well as other deadly gases so I know a lot about them.
But back to your set up, what vehicle is it that this is going into? The pictures look like a ford escape or explorer.. A smaller SUV.. Which usually peak around 47/53 hz. I got my explorer up to a 155 and an invite to world finals, if that's what you have..., I tuned it to 42hz went four 12" subs up and slot port back.
No this is no explorer, (if it was I'd have at least 2 18's). This is a Subaru forester. The most I can fit back there is 2 12's or an 18 (as you see) and still see out the back. I'm not trying to compete or anything its purely just a project and hobby for me. I like the 42hz tunning though, but I still want to hear the lows and get some flex. Since it's an 18 would it still drop pretty low if I tune the box @ 42hz? And would the box cubes matter, like 5.5cft vs 6cft?

See most of my failures accure with wet cells
I already took out the battery, I didn't know it was dangerous to have a wet cell battery in the car. I didn't know it leaked gasses into the cabin. It's only been in for about a month. I'll get an actual car audio battery soon

Decided on a box and did the rendering. Here are the specs: 6.cu.ft. port length 12.5 long, 5" wide. Tuned to 41hz. No bracing because sides and port are double layered (1.5").

Is that 6 cubes after port and woofer displacement?

It looks good, how much room is there from the port to the tailgate for loading? And what is the port 5"×?"×12.5"

Thanks. and yes its before displacement, and it's 5Wx15Hx12.5D on the port. Im not sure exactly how much loading space i'll have because im making an amp rack to sit behind it so it will take up more space. I have to measure later and I'll post. But here is the amp rack on the box. The holes in the rack are for fans.

ok I had to make changes to the dimensions because I found out I only had 1" of loading for the port. NO GOOD! so decided to make the box 36W/18.5H/19.5D. The box is 5.6 CuFt after displacment of port and thick sidewalls...NOT subwoofer. tuned @41hz. and the port width was changed to 4.5 instead of 5" Because of the power I'm running. here is the final renders before I start building

i would make the box 6 cubes and keep the 2 6" aeros IMO. I did a single 18" hdc3 recently with about the same power you have and used 2 6" aeros as well. Mine did fine when i went to comps as well. i did a 147.6 on a 30 music average, with 1 hdc3 18 and stock electrical. I know you said you dont compete but this was also my daily driver

again use areos they take up way less space

Well im already half way into the build but I'll always have the boxx and aero ports.. but quick question, are your aero ports facing up or rear and what about the sub??

Mine was sub firing up & port to rear. In SUVs thats proven to wield better output in most scenario's.

If this is for daily why are you tuning at 41hz again.. I have a single 21 in a cadillac SRX. I'm using passives so I can adjust my tuning on the fly. 40hz tuning def doesn't do great at 25-30hz region, although it's fine above that. Still not worth the tradeoff and a mid 30's tune is a much better compromise if you looking for boom in the 40's as well as good LFE.. (personally I tune around 25-30hz, but that's my preference)

If you want loud on a meter 45hz is where you'd want to tune at most likely give or take a bit as small SUV's do seem to peak near 50hz. I know tuned at 45hz I honestly didn't hear that much of a difference, but my roof sure felt it as my rear lights fell out of my headliner where they would normally just flex a bunch and bounce.. Cleary it's louder, but it doesn't sound like much more to the old ear o meter and I lacked the air movement on the low low stuff lol.
