Amps are a ripoff?

Why cant you afford to power them you want one big expensive 18" sub that is 1.5k rms, same deal. though more cone area = more air being moved. ther are tons of options out there for you, pick the subs that match your budget and more importantly your airspace requirements. If you are skilled enough to build a couple of boxes almost any quality sub will get loud enough to impress. this thread got all cought up in this ohms vs SQ debate and me and plenty of other people will tell you that is BS. ohms are resistance to current, lower you ohm load and you get more current, simple. Look into the setting your gains with a dmm in the amp section and get te biggest f-ing amp you can afford... it will be clean power.

the system you want is gonna cost you 2-4k because once you start putting up big power you need extra battery, high output alt, multiple runs of 1 guage. Then add in dynamat or raamat for the entire vehicle, killing the rattles so that what little sound gets outside is clean as fak. I would suggest reading the entire sounddeadener showdown article. If you want clean sound you gonna have to spend time and $$ on your highs. there is no magic formula and once you hear a great system - hopefully yours- it is worth it. Seriously you could run one type X on 1500rms, great sound, amazingly deep bass. very few highs can keep up with 2k rms on subs -think about it even with 200rms to each set of components, you have 5 times the power to drivers that are 5 times the cone area.

you want balanced sound and you are on a budget. you can have a loud daily driver, but forget trying to be the loudest dude in town and build a system that really impresses you, and makes you want to listen to it.

Squeak I hope you are writing a novel of a retort to own this thread.
Sorry. Went to the store with the family, then come back to find the thread turned into a clusterfuck.

I think the simple solution here is for mile098 to simply stop posting, as he provides mountains of misinformation. A few weeks ago he was trying to tell people that time alignment was the only way to obtain proper sub integration //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Bottom line is he has no clue.......

not quite true, from what the guy said was the problem, thought that might be the way to go...later on he said he didnt know where the xovers are set and if i remember correctly he didnt try playing with the system at all b4 asking....my mistake for making the assumption that he did...i still think that time correction is a really good feature if set correctly.

we have a difference in opinion, if u say im wrong, im not gonna try to convince u otherwise, all is well...the OP has had enough thoughts on what i said, and its ultimatly up to him which way to go, its his money, juts dont want him to spend it the wrong way

one thing about this forum, although there is a vast ammount of knowledge amongst some members theres a lot of non constructive 12 year olds(or they at least seem that) with writing and logic skills of a mistreated ape:crap:

no, im not refering to anyone who disagreed with me in this or any other thread, but the ones that have nothing better to do but make stupid remarks like die, ban and stuff like that..cinicisam is one thing, stupidity another..if u have smthg constructive to say say it, make me see the error of my ways, or dont say anything at all

OP:for anything that u might wanna ask PM

It won't be louder then the 2 type Xs but it will get low and it will sound very good. JL amps are also very nice, but are very expensive.

Also if you get that 12w7, you should check with mile098 to make sure a 3 ohm load will be good for rap.

Same power at higher impedance == amp should have much higher internal rail voltage. And power/output FET's price skyrockets from less then a dollar to 5-20 bucks a piece with Vdss increase.

for the goodness of any noob reading this thread, i think mile098's posts should be deleted. holy crap he has no idea what he's talking aobut. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

HAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHA

i used to be very concerned with my subs and the cost, and i recently started looking into amps but i realized if im gunna be spening 500 dollars for two subs, and they require nearly 1000rms, how much fricken money do i have to spend on a nice amp to power them, i keep seeing the amsp taht say like 2600w rms and i look and for 4 ohms, mono class D amp it says at 4 ohms it would give me lik 250 rms to each sub, for 350 dollrs id want more than that, any help, suggestions, good brands, bargains, or straight up truth about what im gunna have to pay to power them
my buddy is running a ma audio hk802 i believe.. its 4400 watts at 1 ohm mono... its a 2 channel bridgable amp... they sell for 350 all day on ebay... i was going to buy 2 after ive watched my friend win 3 years in a row , with my old jl w6 18s... im too old school thow... do not sleep on this amp... it takes zero gauge rite to the amp and looks well built as well... if you dont like it , you will always be able to get your money back out of it... i promise you , this amp will blow you away
