Actually you need over 1000 for each of those subs if your goin with 2 alpine type X

It doesn't mean that at all, or anything even remotely close to that. That's not even remotely close to an accurate statement.

For your purposes, the only thing it's going to determine is power output from the amplifier or what amplifier would be a suitable match to your subwoofers.

well your wrong, power is power my friend. Now i will admit that you tend to get less distortion @ 4 ohm than you would @ 1 ohm. The difference is negligible. Running an amp at 4 ohms also tends to be more efficient, but it has nothing to do with cone control

im going by the ear here,and the difference between a 2 ohm load and 4 ohm i cant hear, but when i hooked up my rf bd 1000.1 @ 1 ohm it just sounded off, not right...so i rather do 600 or so v 4 ohms on my sub..its a dual 2

other then that i tried it with a couple of two channels(2 ohm bridge) to see if its just the rf, but its the same thing...maybe its just me

please do not post "facts" that aren't true, even though this may be your opinion, this is a community about learning things, not spreading shit you don't understand or know, so more people are misinformed..

your amp cant cleanly put out that power with your gain settings, and or you sub cannot reproduce that with gain settings or simply cant handle the power..

If you have 2 type x wired at 4 ohm you can also wire them at 1 ohm. run @ 1 ohm!

its not flamming, if im telling you not to spread lies, because what if what you said leaves this guy mis informed thiniking he can only run 4ohms because some all knowing guy on CA.com said so..and he drops $400 too much on an amp that can put 2kw @4ohms..insteading of wiring it down to 1ohm and getting the full potential of an amp.

why would subs have dual voice coils then, so it can wire the ohm load down to sound worse..?

yes i know of the site, and im not the smartest guy here, u read live and learn all your life is it not? not every amp is the same, some amps sound like shit at any load..the power output at a lower load is significatly larger on any amp..spl subs(mostly NOT always) have 2x1 ohm coils or 0.7 or smthg, so they can be wired down to a low load for the best numbers...their SQ isnt the biggest concern for anyone...not a lot of SQ subs(singels) have wiring options to go that low do they?

well, i think i want 4 ohm just for the fact that im not going for loudness with my system, im going for clean and nice sounding, no distortion, but i want to be able to hit them lows, and obviously i do want them to be somewhat loud, but im not trying to breaka record or anything, i want clean and nice, but i want people to know im there haha

go with two smaller subs..helix competition 12'' or smthg, and ull get what u want at a resonable price

Then you dont need 4 ohm, you will be perfectly fine @ 1 ohm. I promise you wont hear the difference and you will save alot of cash
