why does his listening taste factor into what power he needs?
Rap gets 2kw amps, while rock gets 1kw amps?

You buy an amp to fit the subs, you buy the subwoofer to fit the listening tastes.

And You need to STFU so that the OP doesnt buy the wrong thing due to your piss poor advice

Lets break this down the proper way.

He wants 2 subwoofers around 1000wrms, he mainly listens to rap so sq is not that big of a deal.

I say the Fi SSD will work fine.

Now to amp them

A Sundown 1000d or 1500d depending on budget will power the 2 subs just fine.

all ure saying is true, but not everyone upgrades liek some of us...im not saying that rap gets 2 kw amps and rock 1 kw but the bass lines in rap and rock dont have the same significance to the listener do they? ppl that listen to rock dont emphasise the bass as much..u put a system according to needs not eventual upgrades,this is too expensive to get smthg on the whim cuz u might use it in a year or two...

SQ is important to me, i mean maybe it differs on rap and rock, but i want to be able to hear the lyrics, i dont want to be the kid with the blown stock speakers and the 5000 dollars subs just blowing his eardrums out so he cant hear the song and make an *** of myself

the choice of subwoofer and sub amp have nothing to do with hearing the lyrics.

ok if i was you i would look into a pair of 12" subwoofers. I installed a pair of sx's in a ext cab ranger off a saz1500d and it sounded great.

so lets look at it like this,

2 12" Fi SSD's 189.00 each 378

1 saz 1500d 350.00 used on the boards ( i have some for sale )

100 bucks for a kicker wire kit off ebay

thats 828 bucks for the substage,

If you want to go with something big, look into the rlp 18"er at http://www.soundsplinter.com, they run $420+shipping.

Get the D2 coils, grab a 1000-1500 watt at 1ohm amp to go with it, put the rlp in 6-7ft^3 tuned to 30-34hz, and you'll be set.
