amp/subs wiring

I want to run at competition level. What would be the best way to run my system?

I know nothing about car audio, especially wiring duties, so please be very detailed.

I have 1 Audiobahn 2ch.amp (a2300hcq) and 4 Audiobahn 12" subs (aw1206q's).

This is what my amp can do:

300 x 2 @ 4ohms stereo

600 x 2 @ 2ohms stereo

1200 x 2 @ 1ohm stereo

2400 x 1 @ 1ohms mono

This is what my subs are:

1100rms each

dual 4ohm voice coils 2ohm or 8ohm operation

Subs (available connections on the subs)

(+)(--) (+)(--) (+)(--) (+)(--)

(--)(+) (--)(+) (--)(+) (--)(+)

Amp (+)(--) (+)(--)

I Looked at a lot SPL Vechicles and i Notice that all the big winners have more amps than subs. So you might want to get some more amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

w/ 4 subs...the only prob. i see is wiring it in parallel will create a .5 ohm load which i dont think your amp would be able to hanle....

This is a series/parallel connection (below). Connecting individual woofers in a series configuration is not common in car audio. This is a lot more common in musical instrument (guitar and bass guitar) speaker cabinets.

or if it was a dvc i would think you could just connect the pos. of the voice coils on sub one together and then connect the neg. to the pos on sub 2 and the neg of sub2 to the neg channel of the amp.....

My subs are dvc, there are 2pos. and 2neg. on each side of the sub, so there is 8 total connections to each woofer.

(-)(-)(+)(+)

(-)(-)(+)(+)

The place I bought my subs and amp said that I could reach 156dB with this combo.

Sealed box is tuned for 32hz.(What the hell does that mean.)

My mono amp is 1ohm stable, 2 Subs are dvc 1100rms\each 12" (2200rms total)

600rms @ 4Ohm mono

1200rms@ 2Ohm mono

1800rms @ 1Ohm mono

How would I wire my amp to my 2 subs, i want to run my amp at full power 1ohm

The place you bought this stuff from...... are morons! Sealed boxes......are NOT tuned. Ported however are tuned based on port size and length. Now as far as the wiring goes. You will more than likely want to go with a series-parallel wiring set up. It has been shown on this thread already, but I do not recall seeeing what OHM rating your speakers are. That will also depend on how exactly you are wanting to wire the speakers to give the proper ohm rating to each speaker.

hey whats up alaxan...well if i am correct from his original post it showed that his subs are 4ohm subs...ive just assumed they were such since then... and alaxan...if im not mistaken wouldnt a dvc sub only have 4 connections on each sub??? anyways...did u get my email the other day?

You are right the guy says the box is ported.

When I look at the back of my subs, THERE IS 8 possible connections

(4pos. and 4neg.) 4 on each side of the sub(2pos. and 2neg.)

16 total connetions 8pos. 8neg.

Car audio guy says that ported box will not do good, he says I need a sealed box,

about 1.8 cubic feet.

My BASS system........

Two 12'' subs 1100rms each (2200rms total)

One mono ch. amp D-class (1800rms @ 1 Ohm mono)

Alpine cd player (8v rms sub output)

Capacitor 30v surge

--nothing is wired all equipment brand new and still in there original boxes

--no other equipment, what else would I need?

( line drivers, equalizers, crossovers, anyting you think i SHOULD have, even if it only helps a little)
