I was at college earlier today in upstate new york getting ready to leave, and there was FROST ON MY SUBS AND AMP! I tried to bump my subs a bit and they weren't very loud at all... after about a half hour in the heat ieverything was back to normal....

is this common for amps to do this in the cold?

how can i keep them from getting frosted on? i already have a blanket over my box and subs

hehe, i know where you're coming from!

I'm in the middle of finals right now, but next week when I get home I'm gonna figure out a system (like a heating pad) for the amp... I'll let ya know how it works out.. a for now tho, just take the long way home and let it warm up so you can bump. lol

Welcome to life in Canada.

when you run your car the interior warms up including the stereo components, when you park the car they make the transition from warm to cold, during this transition they reach the dew point (the point where condensation appears) as they cool further past the freezing point the condensation turns to frost.

Theres really not much you can do other then park in a heated garage.

I have had my speakers in my car in below freezing weather and never had that happen before. Must be getting wet back there some how. I would just start your car a good 15 mins. before you go anywhere and no blast it right away and you should be straight.
