Amp going into protection

I just got my system installed yesterday, after bumpin it a bit, my amp went into thermal protection. At first I thought it was a fuse (i had a 150 amp) then I switched it to a 250 amp.

I touched the amp and it was really hot, I saw the light on the bottom say THERMAL. It is because my loss of voltage? I've been having a real big problem with power which i'm trying to upgrade it asap.

AMP: MTX TA81001

SUBS: 2 12" MTX 9500's DVC4

Final load on the amp is 1 ohm, and it is 1 ohm stable.. HELP PLZ!!

also, it turns back on just about 2-5 minutes later, but after bumping again it goes into protection, over and over..

If it's thermal, there's either:

A) Not enough circulation and your trunk is just boiling the fvck out of your amp

B) The load isn't true 1-ohm and your amp is creating either creating too much power or working too hard to create enough power.

Or C) Mechanical defect

Would it because of all the power i'm losing? When i'm pounding i'm around 11.2 volts.
That'll send it into protect. If your running 11.2 volts you should really think about turning down the gains until you get a second battery, or HO alt, or both. Anything below 12 is bad.

Bass boost should be off completely. And gain may be up to high, that amp shouldn't be overheating.

You need a much higher output alternator, 4G minimum wire from alt to batt, probably new (larger) ground from batt to chassis/motor. An extra batt is worthless...the alt needs to produce your current consumption X1.5. When the voltage goes low the amp does 'what an amp does' and tries to compensate and luckily it has protection.

Your right that he need 4 ga from alt to batt. But completely wrong in the idea that an extra battery is useless and that an alt needs to do current consumption x1.5. Who ever told you that?

How big is your stock alt.?

Do the big 3.

Then get a second battery.

If you still have problems then look into a HO alt, or another battery!

Stock alt is 150amps (i think thats more then enough for 1500wrms) I did NOT change the fuses in the AMP, I changed the fuse from bat to amp, (was 150, changed to 250)

Ha alright I was just checking. Yes your stock alt should be fine. So that means it is probably a wiring issue.

I would suggest looking into the big 3 and doing that first, as that can make a world of a difference for most cars. After the big 3, make sure your battery up front isn't bad. And I'd run 0 gauge from the battery to the back.

EDIT: This is just to solve your electrical problems, which need to be solved before you can safely run your amp.
