V8 muscle > jap crap
I think this pic just about sums it up

It only sums up retarded people who dont understand that FWD cant do wheelis...

besides, torque doesnt win races. Nothing (besides catastrophic failure) that happens at the starting line determines the outcome of the race. I have seen plenty of races that have been won on the top end of the motor, both american muscle and jap motors.

You can stand your wheels up all you want, but it still might not put you in the lead at the end of 1,320 feet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

P.S. - I have had two japanese cars that were RWD, one that had gobs of torque, and one that had absolutly none. Both were about identical in performance (0-60 in about 5.5s, 13 second 1/4 mile), and I will say this, the one with torque was a more fun feeling car on the street, but the high revving torqueless one feels way faster once you get it in that powerband...

I am definitely a big fan of american muscle. but I couldn't care less about 1/4 mile times. How a car handles in the bends is far more important to me. Going quick around corners is always more fun for me than going fast in a straight line. Unfortunately, classic american muscle isn't known for great handling. There are some new american cars out there that can handle some turns, but it's still mostly a european game there, with japan throwing up some good candidates.

Let me put this nicely as I can, who has cried and begged the government for money GM ford almost did but decided they didn't need it. Who is buying Japanese cars we all are no matter if you buy a Honda a ford or a gm. What was the best car manufacture last year Toyota ford was second. I can argue about this all day but I am not if you want to dump money in a company that you may wake up one morning and they will be shut down go ahead i am not stopping you.

NAGOYA, Japan (AP) -- Toyota Motor Corp. projected its first-ever operating loss since it began such reports, acknowledging Monday that its nine-year stretch of global vehicle-sales growth had stalled.
Crashing auto demand, especially in its key U.S. market, and the profit erosion from a surging yen proved too much for Japan's top automaker, which had been booming on the success of its fuel-efficient models, incluading the Camry sedan and Prius gas-electric hybrid.

Gloom dominated the annual news conference by Toyota's president, who in recent years had outlined ambitious expansion plans. This year, Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe even refused to give a worldwide vehicle sales goal for 2009.

"The tough times are hitting us far faster, wider and deeper than expected," he told reporters at Toyota's Nagoya office. "This is an unprecedented crisis requiring urgent action."

I agree with this, I like the twisty's as well. And to a certain extent, torque can be a BIG advantage in the corners. But you arent going to be pulling wheelies coming out of a corner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif . Might lift the inside tire, but that is due more to a stiff chasis and a locked diff, and either FWD or RWD can do it.

On a side note about handling, I have recently found one thing that yields a LARGE difference in percieved handling... The seat. My current car is probably one of the best handling cars I have owned, yet the seat wont really keep you planted very well, and as a result I slide all over and have a hard time really elbowing into a corner.

what about in reverse?
I would call that a reverse wheelie //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif . I guess that could be possible, but still probably unlikely from a Honda.

Dotn forget about Dodge. They are the only one of the big three that I would love to see go under... All of their products and subsidiaries.

Have you ever heard of GMAC?

Please tell me what happened with all big banks, worldwide.

The issues that GM had were more related to GMAC, then the car manufacturer themselves. The thing was, GMAC was just considered a financial wing of GM until they split it last December and it became a bank.

So if you want to spout about financial, please come back when you have complete information regarding company failures. I live and breathe corporate America, as an investor. I would be glad to have an intelligent conversation regarding it. But judging by your lack of research into the matter before your post, I would guess a good debate is a long ways off.

Imagine that. I'd say I called that one. Well I'll tell you what, you drive your rice burning crap with your warranty, and I'll be the supportive American that drives real cars. I will never own a new car because they are nothing like the old ones. If you happy with this plastic crap with 4 cylinders than good for you, I could care less. I could care less about being stock, and new with a warranty because if you have a car and its not how you want it, then I feel it was a waste of money.
I will keep driving what I do. I'm happy with my cars and I'm glad you are too. You are really doing a good job of supporting your country by buying an OLD USED car. Why don't you support them even more and buy one of their new cars(which are like Euro and Jap cars with "plastic crap with 4 cylinders")? Like I said before I prefer my cars stock. If you want to buy a car and make it faster, be my guest. There is nothing wrong with that.

Why would you buy a car that's not what you wanted? That sounds like more of a waste of money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I'm not buying a new one because they **** (all the ones that I could afford). I can't afford a new car. Plain and simple. If I buy a car, I wanted it modified to my taste. I'm not going to spend 30 grand on a car then spend even more money modifying it when I can have something else that I like, which is older, easier to work on, easier to get parts for, and when I get it done, it would be exactly how I wanted it without dropping 30 grand and then starting the process all over again.
