Alternator question

alt idle is usually around 600 to 800 rpms. And you should see that charge rate that your looking for anywhere from 1200 rpms to 2400 rpms. So as you drive you get the full charge you need. If you can recharge the batteries that supply your amps you will be fine. All I suggest is you spend some money on a decent battery as well. One up front and one in back. So that your system will really be at its full potential. I also suggest the big 3 upgrade. I myself using a factory alt saw a .3 volt jump in just doing that alone. I went from 14.2 to 14.4 to 14.5 avg. And you could also look up missing link audio to see if they have anything for your ride. With the unit for my truck jumped my voltage up to 15 volts avg.

Well, my battery sucks, and i'm not even sure i want to pay $100 bucks for another one right now. So basically, if upgrading from the stock 95 amp alt to this one isn't going to help much, i probably shouldn't even waste my money. I do have the big three done already, so that is out of the way.

well your stock alt does not put out 95 amps all the time you would be lucky to see 85 wile driving when at operating temp and make 40 amps at idle so yes get the ho alt it more than double the power of your factory alt

haha, didn't even think of that. But since i only have 2000 watts going to my system, 150-200 amps should be plenty right? I know it won't be enough to power my system full tilt at idle, but as long as i am not losing voltage when i am driving is all i care about. I don't plan on ever running anything more than what i got for a while anyways, so is it worth it for MY system?

well it should be fine if you have 200 amps say 50 run the truck so 150 amps = 1728 watts rms at 14.4 if you have a 80% effiant d class but on music your rms go up and down so you should be fine

Cool. I think it is worth it then. Right now i am probably barely getting 500 watts to my entire system, with bad voltage loss.

low voltage = clipped dirty power witch in turn burns your amp up and makes it run hot and same for your subs dirty clipped power heats them up to if i let my truck demo with out turning up my idle my subs get hot and smell and so does my amp but when im driving full tilt no heat and no smell
