Alternator question

I am planning on getting a 200 amp HO alt. But it says that it is only 105 amps at idle. I think that seems a little low. Is it normal for them to only put out that much at idle?

cool, that seems weird though. So how do you bump your system at full tilt when at idle then, that kind of sucks.

all alts are different, some higher quality ones will have more output then lower quality ones...

what kind you lookin at?

get extra batteries. my stock alt is only 150a peak and i dunno what it does at idle. oh yeh and big3 is 1/0 helps. i should be getting a dc power alt this spring that does 270a peak and 150a idle FTW

105 is pretty standard for that alt style.

i have sold 100's of his alts and only had 1 go bad at 9 months and he replaced it with no issues in 4 days. alot of people will say they **** but i bet 99% of them have never even used 1 so take it for what its worth. he uses all the same nippondenso parts as 2 other major companies that charge more than double that for the same alt.

50 percent of max at idle is average for a budget alt.
